Voltage Regulator Modification by Joe Garner

The voltage regulator is to the left of the red board, just below the breaker.
I was able to get the gen out enough to replace it without disconnecting the coolant hoses.

Here's the notes I took from that exercise:
1) remove 4 bolts into genny slide.
2) disconnect 12v 1/0 large wire in gen fan compartment that feeds gen.
3) disconnect spring holding wires and coolant umbilical lines in rear of gen compartment
4) remove wiring supports under gen compartment to provide slack when pulling out gen
5) cut tie wraps that hold 'umbilical' at back of gen enclosure
6) disconnect 12v + & - on pass. side of gen
7) disconnect fuel lines on pass side of gen
8) remove clevis on gen ram and retract ram
9) support gen frame and pull out, pull to right (passenger) side for more room
10) used a motorcycle jack from Harbor fright, I had to support the rear of the gen slide as well, used a flat furniture dolly and blocking.
11) Cut a hole in the front of the generator control box, mounted a 4-11/16 electrical box cover there and put the VR on that cover.
