Default On the way to Myrtle Beach

The PA Meyers are on the way to Myrtle Beach. Not wanting to spend 10-11 hours on the road tomorrow, we hit the road midday today and enjoyed the fun that is 95/495 in Virginia. Can you say parking lot? Turned on the fan override and all was well, just took 8 hours to get into North Carolina, only 350 miles. Hope the rest of the ride tomorrow is easier and faster.

Never pass Washington DC on Friday. The almost everyone in the entire area leaves Friday afternoon for the weekend and the roads just stop. Monday morning is not a picnic either.

I've never had a problem traveling through the VA - DC - Baltimore area . Very little traffic at 4AM Being stuck in that area one runs the risk of contacting some form of the many contagious political diseases.
That being said, I avoid that route like the plague.
NOTE: KC's meds are helpful in the prevention and curing most common political afflictions

So yesterdays ride wasn't much better, six hours for 240 miles. First there was a nasty accident on 95, then MB traffic at the end. Got here just in time for the skies to open and rain. Mix in the near impossibility of getting to our spot, fun fun. Had to drive down another lane, cut diagonally across a spot and get the neighbor to move his truck. HH is pretty slim roads! Rain let up after dinner, took a nice walk on the beach. So far this morning it's beautiful.

Yesterday started with a nice walk on the beach in the beautiful ocean breeze. After breakfast the rental car place picked me up so I could get our car. First stop was Hudson Flea market. Bought some used books and records, then back to the site for lunch. After lunch went to the beach until it rained again, then got dried off and changed and went north about 20 miles to Barefoot Landing. There is an animal preserve there where you can get your picture taken holding a monkey or tiger for a donation. On the way home we had a comical stop over at Walmart to pick up a few things. Apparently two women in line in front of us were trying to figure out how to split their bill four ways and it to where half an hour to get that sorted out. Last picture is all the golf carts to sleep circling and circling all night, weird.

Yesterday we went to a place about 15 miles south called Brookgreen Gardens. Interesting place. Part is a little zoo, part is sculpture and flower gardens, the rest is a former rice plantation.

At night we went to check out the boardwalk. Having been to New Jersey boardwalks like Wildwood, this one was much smaller.
