Today was visiting with friends we had not seen in a while. We were so happy to visit with Don and Joy Bradner, long time attendees of Q. And Nikki! Thomas and Nancy Rembert and Jim and I have travels many thousands of miles together. We were reminiscing about friends and places we have been. And Tebow, now 16 years old…why in dog years he is almost as old as Jim….
We did one more walk thru of Tyson Wells flea market.
At 3:15 we were going to have pizza at Silly Als. The parking lot was jammed packed. Folks were double parked on the streets. No pizza for us. I did manage to snag the last loaf of bread at Family Dollar.
Today was a beautiful day. More folks out visiting.
Tomorrow night Ray and Leslie fix BBQ! Always great food.

What a fantastic close to Q17! Mother nature certainly rolled out her best today, finally. Crystal clear skies, warm temps and little to no wind. The day started with a trip up thru Parker to the Desert Bar, which didn’t exactly go as planned. Just north of Parker, Ricks Jeep had a little issue with lug nuts and had to be towed. Both he and Rod had to pull out of the Jeep trip, so Brad and I took up the reins and everyone had a great run. We all made it back to the circle just in time to partake of Rays best meal yet. Don’t get me wrong, his prime rib was delicious. But perfect T-shirt weather encouraged everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities. Of course, there was a huge bonfire and even a lumina launch. All in all it was a grand sendoff that Q17 provided. As I write this, this morning, many are preparing their coaches to leave the nest. Tomorrow, the Mexico group leaves, and the circle will once again be nearly empty. It’s sad to say goodbye to so many wonderful friends. Many thanks to Rick, Curt and the countless others, who helped make this one of the best Q’s yet. Don’t know about you, but I’m already looking forward to Q18. I hope that those of you who could not make this year are already planning your own desert adventure as a warmup for the long awaited Eclipse rally in Texas!

As usual, I’ll be working on Q videos the next few weeks to show how you much fun everyone had (in case you weren’t here). For those of you who have not seen my most recent short teaser vid with everyone headed towards dripping Springs, I encourage you to check it out @ my YT channel. It’s easy to find – just do a search on YT for: NoGasWelcomeAboard.

See you all next year!

I really enjoyed meeting the amazing people at the rally. So many great folks in this community. Sorry I did not get to say goodbye to most of you as we decided to pull out last minute and a day early when the WI ds got bad on Thursday. I learned some great info from some of you so thank you!

It was good to see so many of you after 5 years away! Repeat is not expected, but I never say never. There is a small chance that we will make it down to Texas for the Eclipse next year, and if we do I hope to stop by and see some of the East Coast folk from WOGs past.

It was great to see everyone again!
It has been several years since I was able to bring a bus back to Q and I finally tackled the engine issues with my new to me 83FC35. Still need to fix a plethora of other smaller issues but she is road worthy.

I finally was able to get to Q with my 82CJ5 jeep, yes that was a also a big accomplishment. And really looked forward to doing a jeep trial ride with the group. I printed out the agenda from the Bird's of a Feather website so I was set.

Saturday 1/28 I lined up at 9:50am for the 10am jeep ride to the Desert Bar. Strange that I'm the only one in line? I found out (if I had read the white board) that the 10am jeep trip leaves at 9:30! OK... so I call Van and he tells me they are on the road and stopping for gas so I should be able to catch up.

Off I go down I-10 as fast as that little CJ5 would safely go to catch up with the group. When I hit the California state line I woke up and wondered "why am I going to California to get to the Parker, Arizona Desert Bar????"

BRAIN FART! No worries, I can recover! I headed North in CA 95 to cross the Parker Dam and meet up with the group. Beautiful drive along the river and many resorts to see. The dam is always amazing. So, cross the bridge and knew the turn off for the Desert Bar was about 5mi North of Parker. Well, I just crossed the Parker dam so I need to head North.

After about 20mi I realized I should have headed South so... U-turn and heading South now. Who knew the Parker dam was not really in Parker, but far North of it??? I'll be a GPS would know! I finally get to the Desert Bar road and get in line with a bunch of cars & street jeeps doing 4mph for the entire way.. <sigh>

Dusty, frustrated, and tired I finally got to the Desert Bar where there was no parking! It took almost 30 minutes to finally get parked. Once there the atmosphere was great, live band, everyone enjoying themselves. I did a quick walk around but did not see any WOG members, lines very long, and no tables available so I left.

I actually found Parker and had a nice Mexican dinner with Corona.

Lessons...
1 - Read the white board Rick updates every day. You'd think I'd know that by now.
2 - Pay Attention! If you are supposed to drive to Parker, don't drive to Blythe!
3 - Stop "winging it", use your GPS!

Anyway had a nice trip, good views, and got to run the jeep (a lot) and she's holding up nicely. Attached are pics from the scenic route!

I can't wait for the next jeep adventure!

Just got home from another great Quartzsite rally. Saw lots of friends. Ate great food. Went on four Jeep rides. A little cold this year but a great time anyway. Thanks to Curt, Rick and everyone else.
