Good afternoon.
I don’t want to hijack this thread because I already have a thread on the cables, but since there are some questions, I thought it would help to update the status.

I expect to have the green light on the cables shortly. They will be available for PT’s, FC’s and we are now working on a cable for the SP’s as an FYI.

The minute I get the word, I’ll be posting on my Throttle Cable thread.

Thank you!

No news? Do we need more orders - or just waiting for the supplier to produce?

We need (Dan needs) 10 more orders.

BUT,before we go there heres the real deal,Dan and i were o the phone as JP asked the question.
we were going over the dimensions of the new seal,Dan got an engineered drawing back from the rubber place and we had to verify if the drawing fits the bus/glass.
So the drawing is drawn flat.and all of you know the glass has curves on each end.
There is a measurement on the print for each end, each bottom section, each top section and each side of the middle bar.

4 measurements.
I,with help from grasshopper measured my 71 bus thats in my bus barn, the numbers we got are a little different thsat what the drawing indicates.

But they were all consitant. Meaning their bottom number was 3/8'' smaller than my number, the veritical numbers were 1/4'' smaller etc.
Remember, they got numbers from a used gasket that we sent to them and it was not filled with the glass.
So what Dan and I think is that the gasket needs to be smaller than the glass and the bus opening,so the gasket can stretch around the glass for a good fit and be weather tight.
Too big,and the glass will be "loose" in the gasket, right?
So after much debate Dan and I agree the sizing is fine, next step is they make us a prototype and ship it to me,as soon as i get it i will install it in my 71 (same as FC and PT's) to verify fit and finish.

The time frame is not something i know about, but as soon as i get it i will install it,unless its too cold or something.
Cold matters (not to me as much) to the glass,my building is not heated and both of my windshields are good,i really don't want to break a window testing the glass (but i will take the chance).

We are all lucky to have Dan behind getting the new gaskets made, not many people would go so far out of their way to engineer, find, and ship a gasket to (hopefully) a company thats going to follow through and get us the gasket made.

There is no money in this project form me,i'm doing it for the group (and i need a gasket too)
If Dan makes a dime i will be surprised, his time and dedication to the project has been priceless and the actual number of orders has been a disappointment.
I have commintted to buying 2 gaskets,i need one for my 71 but i sure didn't need 2 but i will take one for the team if thats what it takes.

Thats all the news i have,so get those orders in,Dans a one man parts shop and he can't afford to stock more than a few.
Space and money is always a problem.
Thanks guys.

Good morning.

I have a spare windshield in the attic if that will help this situation. I got it when I bought the 78 way back when. It's a passenger side, but I don't think that really matters.

Just let me know if I can help here.

Thanks!

I'll order a gasket, but I want to ensure it's going to be absolutely the right one that fits. I appreciate all the work that goes into these group buys and the reverse engineering involved. Being in Canada, the shipping and import fees, not to mention exchange difference makes this an expensive buy. My gasket is original and dry.
