Yes typo, changed it, thanks.
My bearing nut was a 4" socket required, not a 41/8".

The axle nut socket is stamped steel, not spendy really,i have a collection of them.
Pete,how much was the socket?

Of course you can use a chisel to spin the nuts off,its been done millions of times.

I paid $50 Canadian, so about $35 US, for the 4".

The rest is just basic hand tool stuff (to me anyway).
Jack stands, dunnage and some way to remove the wheels,1 1/2 socket is needed for the lug nuts.
A big bottle of Aleve and some beer.
Mine also took a 4 inch socket...

Ours took a 4-inch socket (Story to follow)

I had 2 weeks between classes and decided to take that time to change all fluids and filters plus AntiFreeze. All was going well I left the drains open overnight and the next morning went to install the filter and low and behold I see the street side drive axle has a small puddle behind the tire. So all stop and start removing tires, read and watch vids and keep working. with the tires, off and hub released, and drum off you guessed it. It needs brakes also. now we have a 4 1/8 socket but it seems too sloppy to remove and reinstall the nuts out come the calipers and 4 inch perfect no problem I need to go to FLeetPride for the seals and brakes I'll get a socket there Nope they don't have a 4" so NAPA it is. Nope ordered it for 85 dollars and 8 days later it came in and was able to finish the job I decided while I was replacing the brakes to replace the other seal also

I had new tires installed on Tuesday, Firestone 400s. I hung around and watched the process. When they removed the right drive tires, I noticed the leaking seal, otherwise I had no indication that it was leaking, or the bearings were bad.

Bearing numbers, 594A/592A, 580/572, seal part # 393-0173. The bearings are Timkins (sp). Bought it all at a Traction heavy duty truck parts.

We were supposed to depart south on Sunday, there will be a slight delay.
Part numbers always come in handy. I’ll add them to spreadsheet.

Received the bearing for the other side. Changed it yesterday. That bearing looked fine, but had it apart, and had the new bearing, so replaced it, and the seal.
Bearing arrived a day late due to a snow storm. Hope to head south on Friday.
