Default Rent-a-Bird/Trade-a-Bird

A pleasant Friday afternoon, WOG readers. My very lovely and always-much-smarter-than-me wife has suggested I toss this out to all of you just to see where it might land. Here goes...

Short story, we plan to take some time this summer to head out West with our two kids, ages 12 and 14, and visit just a few of the National Parks and sights along the way in our new-to-us FC35. We have been working like crazy getting the old girl (uhhh, referring to bus, not wife...) ready, but we're starting to rush things that just naturally take time. Like a paint job and full interior re-do. Not typically finished up on weekends and evenings after work with only two months to go.

Instead of trying for the impossible and getting on the road in our own bus that may not yet be quite ready, wife Shannon thought one of you out there might be interested in renting us your coach for 2-3 weeks in late June and early July. We're non-smokers, will be leaving the pets at home, and both kids are polite, housebroken, and trained to stay off the furniture.

We would prefer a Wanderlodge, but would be open to others. As an alternate plan, we would also consider a trade for an equal number of weeks for our house on Kentucky Lake near Dover, Tennessee. Three bedrooms, two baths, a boathouse, and lots of water toys.

I'm interested in all thoughts and comments. As always, many thanks.

OH BOY!!! You might want to call RV America. You would probably have better luck.

Good luck but I doubt you are going to have much luck. I think most look at their RV as very personal, I certainly do. No way would I consider renting our Wanderlodge.
As Jim says, a national RV rental is probably your best bet.

There's an Old saying.....don't loan your motorcycle or wife to anyone...and I'll add Bluebird to that....

Although to be politically correct...we never could loan the wife...as we all know, we don't own them...hope that clears that up.

Easy boys. Let's not get all lathered up. Certainly didn't mean to offend.

Please read carefully..."we would be open to others".

We just thought, with all your travels, and all of your contacts, you might know of someone who would be interested. Pass it on.

Thanks.

We all like to help each other as you know, however this could be a bit much. What would someone do with all their stuff? If they didn't unload it all, what would you do with all your stuff? I would think my insurance company would have a fit if I rented my coach to someone for a trip like this. These rigs have systems that fail. Who would be responsible if something broke? Way too many things could go wrong on a deal like this.

Lloyd,

I know some of the fun is the journey there and back. However, something to consider. The amount of rental potential around Salt Lake City and other cities west around the national parks is a huge market.
We had some friends fly into Salt Lake City and then rent and drive to the parks. Saved lots of gas and miles billed. If you get discount tickets far enough in advance it still cost but you can get creative and get a fairly decent price.
I know it's not quite the same but it ends up costing much less than renting from there and back and because of the volume the competition on price is much better.

Just a thought.
