Its been a busy fall, the WOG rally takes up some time and after the WOG we have a full house and then we got into a few projects here.
The 85 FC is done, and we bought a building next door that needed a good cleanup and Carol and I have most of that done.

Then i started cleaning out a building so i can move my LXI into it,(its full of lawn mowers, forklifts and stuff) and then i'm moving the 71 over to where i normally park the LXI,that will give me room to setup the saws and tables right outside the 71's entry door.
I have to get everything organized before i start back to work on the 71.
(yeah,i know, you asked me what time it was and i tell you how to build a clock)

But,the point is i am very interested in getting back to work on the 71,but i have to get the place back in order first.

I’ve got projects that keep getting moved down because new stuff gets in the way—- so I completely understand.

Thanks for the update. It’s a cool old bus and will be great with a modern drivetrain when you are done.

Max.

Always a big milestone when the engine fires up on a major project.

I have been busy as a man can be.
I have gotten the shop a little cleaner and i'm still going to get back on the 71,but everytime i look up a new or old project needs my attention.
I charged the batteries on the 71 a few days ago.

One of my delays was rebuilding my fence and entryway, including my big gate (20 feet) and the commercial gate opener.
Why did i rebuild it?

Well,4 weeks ago at 1am on a friday night a drunk came down my dead end street at 100mph or so and took out 40 feet of commercial chain link fence,6 feet tall and barb wire on top.
He also took out my 20 foot gate and opener,my 20 foot tall steel pole holding up my big log across the top of the entry and Carols flower beds, big clay pots and irrigation and a couple of trees.

The tall poles and the top log made it through a Cat 4 hurricane.

Of course we were sound asleep and woke to the very loud crash, the driver ran away but the cops caught him shortly after.
After all,his Mercedes was here in my yard, all tangled up in broken flower pots and a large cedar tree.
It was totaled.

So we had to clean all that mess up,build a temp fence to keep the dog in and the tourist out.
Then we had to organize the fence company, get a new gate built, get a new opener on the way and repour the sizeable concrete pad the opener bolts to.
Lucky for us the driver had insurance, and it cost them almost $10,000 to fix the damage to our place.
This took a lot of time out of our month, calling the insurance people, getting the place cleaned up and everything working again.

Thankfully we have two entry gates,so we had a way in and out while we waited on the fence crew, the concrete to get hard and the gate to be built.
The gate is 20x6 and has barbed wire on top too, making it a very large project and its a swing gate as well,so its heavy.

Of course Thanksgiving was right in the middle of this project and no self respecting Ga redneck will miss taking 4 days off,and in our case it turned into 6 days,it did rain Mon and Tue. after the holiday.
Time lost..
