Making my list
Ok now that I have been thrown back into reality aka Satan's Crotch aka home, it's time to make my shopping list.
Front shocks(2): Koni 90-2497SP1 Rear shocks(2): Koni 9005-1025FSD (2) virgin 12R steerers for the front Onboard battery charger/CONVERTER (What would you guys recommend? Inverter not needed) Voltage regulator for generator (BadAndy, got a number for me yet?) The rest of the driveline u joints (3) Dang, anyone need a slightly used kidney? Might have one for sale.

Thanks Chris, is that the size we need for our (4) 6v's and (1) 12v batteries?
and is it a smart charger that will shut off if a charge is not needed?

That is what I use for my 6 6v batteries, wired into the original charger location. It automatically switches between three different modes for boost charging, normal, and maintenance charging. With your 12v and 6v battery combination, i can't say it will not cause problems, but I would think it should not- overall its still a 12v system. Unless your mentioned 12v battery is the generator battery, and I don't think that charges on the bus system.
Almost one year later with no complaints. If you really want an upgrade- just install a charger/inventer and wire it to run the whole bus. I thought about changing out my 30a input switch to be inverter power (with most appliances off). The benefit it that all your outlets should work will boondocking. Tonight we're sitting at a walmart in Forsyth, GA and I'm going to have to charge my phone with a battery pack if I want to keep it by the bed.

Outlets working wouldnt really be of any benefit if we were boondocking. I just charge my phone in the 12v port with a car charger or charge it in the toad whenever we drive somewhere. I will look at both and appreciate your help. Thanks!

Dana,
Didn't someone have an inverter/charger for sale here on WOG a short while back ? Also you need to look into if you can maintain both a 12v battery and multiple 6v batteries with the same smart charger at the same time. I thought I read something about issues with that. On our bus the 6v batteries are maintained by the inverter / charger and the 12v genset battery by a separate maint charger.

We only have 1 charger with the battery isolator. I am pretty sure the genset battery is tied to the coach batteries. I know of no other battery charger on this bus.

So now Tony is askiing if anyone has ever put a Detroit 871 in an FC in place of the Cat 3208?
Guessing it wouldn't be as fuel efficient, but sure would sound nice.

Dale Bremer(sp) from Buffalo, NY, Has a 76' FC with a 6v92 in it that he and his wife put in... They did all the work themselves, no one else, plus changed out the rear end... HTH Quote:
