Default Yuma Welder: http://www.mikesmetalworks.com/

This shop is worth a try if you need welding in Yuma: Mikes Metal Works

http://www.mikesmetalworks.com/

Here's my story:

I've been hauling my dismantled air steps around since January when i backed it into a big rock and bent it all up.

Yesterday I pulled up a Google map of welders in Yuma, threw the steps in the back of the Samurai, and went to see if any of them would take it on.

Found Mike's Metal Shop conveniently located near a mall, not too hard to find between I8 and the Colorado River. He doesn't do trailer hitches. He recognized my metal mess as steps, said he'd work on it no problem.

Today I went back, he had the pieces straightened as much as possible. He said he would fabricate and weld @ $80/hr to do a 100% repair if I provided precise dimensions. Otherwise, no charge for the metal straightening. He literally wouldn't let me pay him anything for the work done. What a friendly guy. No question that I'd give the work to this shop with my drawings on Monday, but we're starting the slow trip northwest to Washington this weekend.

I took the straightened pieces back to the coach, put it all together, and it works well enough for now--straight enough to fully extend/retract with air power. Thanks Mike!

Thumbs down

We're headed back to Washington also, but not till next Friday.
We manage a park here in Quartzsite for the winter and it's time to go.
Have to wait for an insurance adjuster to show up next Wednesday to go over a claim I put in for our 20 foot awning....the wind thru it up on the roof and bent arms, etc.
We'll see how that goes as it is our first claim.
Be glad to head north next Friday.

Ouch! I'll keep an eye out for a bird with an awning on the roof, which way are you headed north?
