Default Lighted Door Grab Handle - replacement for M380

Started on what I thought was a straightforward hunt and then what seemed momentarily like a wild goose chase for a replacement illuminated grab handle for the front door. Mine has aluminum flange mounts that were chromed, so some pitting and flaking and corrosion going on.

Initially I was led to Fleming Sales and then they turned me on to ITC-RV.com who makes a competitive handle, but a matching one.

ITC also was incredibly nice and told me they re-released the product with stainless steel mounting flanges to address the problem I'd experienced.

They tell me the product is 86430. And was about $120 shipped.

Given my flanges look ****** and the acrylic handle is stress cracked a bit, I figured I'd just buy the right thing. Hopefully, the base footprint for the flange is proper. They assured me it is.

They won't engrave with Bluebird unless you buy 24 units or more. I can live without that

Hope this helps someone else.

Doug

I replaced mine last Sept, for $61.95 plus shipping. It was engraved with "BLUE BIRD" in blue inlay included new top and bottom mounts and has a blue LED light inside for illumination, (still working on that part).

Part number was 5500-L-B

Fleming Sales Company Inc. Elkhart Indiana (574) 295-0234

Still $61.95 with the same options of Custom Lettering, BLUE LED etc.

Hi Mike and All,
I really want the mounting flanges footprints to be the same vs. exposing marred paint or other underneath, hence the goose chase and probably extra costs, here.

Note, I did the same search on the ITC site and uncovered the part # returning just an LED, but had provided some photos to match things up and had live discussions with their customer service.

They assured me that part 86430 part # is now obsolete, but indeed the updated part (IE stainless flanges with light bar to what Bluebird used.)

After talking with Fleming and ITC, I'm (mostly) confident.

They now only sell on the site the two hole mounting flanges, not four in stainless.

I think the price is too high for what it is, but I'm glad it is stainless.

When I have it in hand and can match it up to the present, I'll report back.

Cheers,
Doug

Hey Barry,
That might be good info for someone. Of course, that doesn't match my mounting flanges at all.
If it did... I'd have been buying that handle!!

Thank you!

Cheers,

Doug

Doc found one with Bluebird on it and made a nice back plate for it: https://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.c...ad.php?t=20750

I bought one of Stephen's with Wanderlodge on it $57.35 http://www.dupreeproducts.com/Search...?Search=handle and painted an aluminum plate to go behind it:

Hi Don,
Thank you - I will definitely update when this arrives. Fingers crossed it matches as they say it will.
I guess for +$50 it will be worth it if and maybe BIG IF the overall footprint is just the same.

Dan Hunt found a handle on eBay that had the exact 4 hole chrome mounts, the handle was engraved Glaciar, I also bought one, and the mounts fit perfectly...my handle is still in good shape.
