Default Hydraulic Fan Diagram

John,

Thanks for the help with the location of the Fan Override Relay! I found it and it operates properly.

With further looking for the reason my temperature gauge never reached 190 degrees I grounded the wire going to the 210° Fan Override Temperature Switch. The fan sped up considerably. This indicated that the fan circuitry is functional. (I should have done this at the start.) Now I am wondering if the idle (low) fan speed is too high. The fan idle speed on my ’84 6V92 is lower.

What should I look for to lower the idle speed?

I have not checked the hydraulic fan solenoid yet. Does anyone have a picture of hydraulic fan solenoid or know where it is located?

Thanks to everyone for the help with my problem.

Dave

Hi Dave,

The hydraulic fan on my 84 ½ 6V92 was basically “off” when in low speed and at about 1800 RPMS in high speed.

The fan on my 91 WB is supposed to run at about 400 RPMS in low speed and at about 1800 in high speed.

The valve that controls the fan speed on my 91 WB is located on the outer side of the frame almost directly above the lower radiator hose - using a flashlight I can see mine without getting under the coach.

Be sure you understand and follow all safety precautions when working under your bus!!

John,

Thanks for the picture and location description!!

Do you know of any maintenance procedure that can be performed to reduce the fan speed or would it be a hydraulic fan solenoid replacement? Do you have a part number other than Blue Bird's for the solenoid.

I hope I am getting to the end of this project!

Dave
