Default external dump valve

https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T58-...s=3+gate+valve

Anyone try one of these while leaving the primary dump valves open?

I saw one of these for the first time this week. My neighbour has problems opening and closing his factory valves so he's leaving them open and using this valve. His only worry is the attachment ears. He's worried they may break unexpectedly. I've had these ears break a few times so he may have legitimate concerns but more than likely they will last longer than a fitting that is regularly being attached and removed (ie sewer hose fitting)

I permanently glued one like that with a female inside fitting for the PVC pipe. It should work fine if I don't drag it across a curb!

I have the 3rd valve glued on the end of the waste pipe. Tried leaving the gray water DuPree valve open once with this 3rd valve closed. Flooded the compartment from the DuPree stem or something. Guess you would need to take those stinky things apart and put in some new rubber.

That 3rd valve is one of the best things since sliced bread for more reasons than I can list.

I put a third valve on my outlet several years ago. Got a surprise once, when I took the cap off Really screwed up my day. The Dupree valve didn't seat properly and allowed it to leak. Not quite as bad as the movie RV but it was a mess. Decided never again. I cut off the end cap and glued on a third "safety valve". No seals or rubber parts to cause a leak. I also recently got a completely new dump hose and connectors. They are all cam locked. No tabs to break or twist off, you just flip a couple of levers and it is positively locked. Much easier and cleaner.

Great feed back guys, thanks. Mine work but stick at times.

I'll connect the valve to the hose (won't lose it), open the dump valves, then maintain the tanks with the 3rd valve.

Thanks again.
