I got a story about Avon Park. Tell y'all when I see you. That's not what it seems either. No Area 51, but a little weird in its own way. I dare say its still there. Thanks Brad. Same to you!

I remember we thought Avon Park was like a 5 star training area the first time we went there.

Nah, Area 51 is a distraction. They keep the aliens in the tunnels under Cheyenne Mountain outside Colorado Springs; harder for their buddies to stage a rescue operation through all that granite.

I know! I got to hump the land a bunch. Right through the middle of the swamps in a few spots. Some real pretty woods too. I was telling the story how I was part of an airborne unit. I was 40 an they wanted me to go to jump school to fit in lol. They could not make me. a younger squid did, but he had been a Marine before he went into the Navy. I would chat with the special operators and they be pointing to the metal in their body and telling me how that happened and how that happen, and I go NO WAY. It didn't hurt me since it was not a requirement to jump in that unit. They make it up to me for not doing it, every once in a while too :-)

So, we took off for AP. We got trucked in, all the non-jumpers and those on profiles. We get on site, we are geared up and waiting. A C-130 flies over, the sun on its tail and it was an awesome sight. It goes about 10 miles and we see the chalk go out the door and down they come. About 15 miles out by then. So, the CSM screams at us, they ain't waiting, move out. We get to them about sun rise the next morning. We had been all night in the swamp to get there, nasty. They are sitting there eating MREs with their feet up smoking cigars. So, all next day we make camp. And on it went. Fun times.

LOL I know the feeling. I was assigned to XVIII Airborne Corps when I was 44. They wanted me to go to Jump School. I was like **** no, I'm just a staff puke here and you can fly me in with the gear after the airfield is secured. I wanted to go to jump school when I was in my 20's but then they were like "you don't need that for your career field". By the time they wanted me to go I was already like dog years old and really wanted to still be able to walk after retirement.

In the Air Force, they taught us that you don't jump out of a perfectly good aircraft
