That main discharge line usually has a braided covering for heat.
Leak is hard to hear and it travels under the covering may be hard to find..
But stuck at 90 could be governor But brakes & park brake should release for testing.

I talked to Shane, who remembered someone with similar symptoms. Went ahead and replaced the ad-2 cartridge, and lo and behold pressure. It was goopy but not as bad as the last time I replaced it. Still a PITA to crawl under and do the service. In the process, found the blowoff valve had unscrewed itself under the dust cover bracket.

Someone cranked a non original connector onto the governor and now it has round corners... hope it holds out another 33 years.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, all.

Default Part numbers?

Anyone got a bendix governor part number?
Need to check the valve again in the air dryer... Just past Montgomery I got a Engine Alarm... Hydraulic fan wasnt on. Override on, temps dropped alarm quieted. But getting off the highway i got my brake air down to mid 70s. Never saw over 105 again today... Reliably got back to 95 pretty well. Lots of transmission and retard work... 60psi and no build as I parked. But I am at WOG and I have 6 days to get this fixed.
Anyone bring a pit with them?

Paul

Hi Paul,

The governor on my ‘84 FC is a Haldex/Bendix KN18530:

I know our buses are different but I also have the AD2 and thought the governor may also be shared. Good luck!

I too will have a spare I always carry one, they do fail from time to time. In the last 12 years I have replaced 4 between the two birds. Will be at PM tomorrow.
