Another thing to pay attention to is the low coolant sensor,not sure if you have a remote tank or not. It should alarm when exposed to air--not grounded by coolant OR RUST.

Yes, I have a coolant tank and low coolant sensor at top center of the tank. That is one of the many little things being replaced "while I'm there".

So today I went and spent the day working on the bus. First order of business was getting the trans cooler out of there so I could have it picked up. Look at all the grease, dirt, road grime everywhere...

Then I took off the fan shroud and the radiator guy came to pick up the radiator and trans cooler. They will recore the radiator, and hopefully clean and pressure test the trans cooler successfully.

Next order of business was scraping, degreasing and cleaning the mess left behind with radiator and trans cooler out of the bus. This way I'd have a good starting basis to see what I'm working with before I start pulling anything off for replacement. Plus its so much nicer to have a clean area.

After that, I covered the engine with plastic and started scraping off the insulation. Driver's side done, started taking down the metal panels at the back and top but not 100% done, will continue with that next time I head over. One bolt on the back panel won't come all the way out, and I need to get a few more things out of the way to take the top panel out. Figured before I start opening things up, I wanted that nasty old insulation gone so those parts wouldn't fall into all the areas I'm going to open up.

It sure is! Picked the right time to do it, before it got worse and caused issues I guess.

Markus, we looked at mine yesterday and determined that it's easier to get to everything than yours. Like Shane said........ it is smaller and the hydraulic cooler is on the lower rear side of the radiator. We are not seeing a trans cooler, maybe because of no retarder??...... Who knows. Saturday is radiator day for me. Battling a right front jack until then

Be very careful Markus or David will have you converted over to the bright side. You don't want to go there. You'll never stop cleaning, polishing and buffing. Stay with us 'grimies'.
