Default White German Shepherd

Our nine year old white GSD Pita has a very aggressive form of cancer. She is nine and the giant breeds age faster so she is like 80+ in human years. We have six GSD's buried in the garden. Each one with a distinct personality and touches you in their own way. It is just a waiting game now.
Pita used to love to put her front feet on the junk tray/cup holder in our FC35 and watch out the front windshield. Even at 100 lbs + she could get herself up on the doghouse for a ride.
We have a black/tan GSD also. She knows there is something going on with her buddy. We've had black/tan, all black and this was our first pure white GSD. She was very shy but very protective and fun to play hide and seek with. The pain is almost unbearable seeing her fading. The memories though, make this weight easy to shoulder. This all came up in the last six days. Just can give her comfort and wait.

The loss of a pet is almost like the loss of a family member. We have two older dogs, and we won't go full-time until both are gone. Both are reasonably healthy now, but it is obvious they are aging. If we have to put either one down it will be hard.

We went through the same situation with our last dachshund. Three or 4 days from start to finish. At least you have the chance to not let her suffer. It was no fun at all. She was gone way to soon.

I'm feeling your pain and I know how hard it is to loose that four legged kid with fur of yours, they are truely part of your family and the WOG family too.

Our local vet didn't think PITA would make the day on Saturday. The vet in Detroit where I took her for an echogram gave us a Chinese Herb called "Yunnan Baiyao" to help repair the tear in her heart. This stuff is magic. We researched it and it was given to VC soldiers as first aid during the Vietnam War. While we know it is not a cure and the day will be here soon, she has shown a huge improvement and is now eating again, and wagging her tail. We had her out to play today and she is eager to stalk squirrels and play hide and seek. Each day is a gift. As long as she is not in pain and suffering, we are having fun and she is enjoying it. Thanks again for the kind words. Pets complete a human's life in so many ways. These memories at the end mean so much.

I'm 65 years old and had a lot of pets in my life. For some reason I never grew attached to one. I got married and had two kids and again more pets. Still nothing. Then events in my life became difficult. My wife died at 45. The same day my last daughter moved out of the house to go to college. I was alone. Very alone. I got married again a few years later but unfortunately that was a mistake. There was only one thing the resulted from that marriage that was good. That was Squirt. Click image for larger version

ID:	19956The ex came home with her, when she was only couple of months old. Things were starting to fall apart in the marriage and without me knowing it I fell in love with a dog for the first time in my life at 58 yrs. of age. I experienced the kind of love that I had been missing for several years. The kind of love I never thought was possible for an animal. It changed my life. It changed it for the better. It made me a better person (not my opinion by the way.)
My heart goes out to you Rick and to all the others that have lost a "furry kid". Just sitting here writing this brings a heavyness to my heart and some difficulty in seeing this screen clearly, because I'm looking at my "furry kid" lying on her bed and the though of losing her is pretty much unbareable.
