Ernie, good advice on Newell Gurus. I will join. You have probably done flooring in a few over the years...any thoughts? This Prevost was tempting...https://billings.craigslist.org/rvs/...748544926.html

Jwood, was there a problem with the Cummins of that year?

John, thanks for your advice. My wife really likes this coach, which is a huge selling point. I have restored several cars, as a hobby. I really like aluminum body work. The last car that I restored had an aluminum body over a tubular steel frame. After sitting for 30 years in a garage, it had zero corrosion issues with the bodywork.

If I was a younger man that Prevost would be on the short list. You'll be doing a repower on that triple nickel anyhow, I'd go with the better coach x 10.

Newell used Cummins 555 and 903 engines in the early days. Be sure of what you are getting into. You would not be happy with 190hp.

Mike, I like the coach, but I'm not sure I like it that much.

Randy, I found information on another 1980 Newell that had the
350HP 903 Cummins. Is that a reliable engine? Should I expect a rebuild soon with 150,000 miles or will it go 400,000 miles like the Cummins in my truck?

Mike, I would buy the Prevost. It is a whole lot closer and it would be worth a whole lot more after the block was replaced. I even found a nos block for $6,500. My wife really likes the Newell. After putting up with all of my car projects, I will get the one she likes.

Woody, is the 903 a good engine? Who should I hire to do a ppi?

Brad, 190 hp would be underwhelming. My first drive will be to LA to stay with my in-laws. I fear with 190hp, it would struggle to go up the grapevine.

The 555 and 903s were not common in my area,so i really have zero first hand experience with them.

But the word was that they were not that good.
But,lots of people say that about the 92 series detroits..
