I’d put an S60 in it.

Randy, thanks for the info. I cited the cost of the block as a worst case scenario. I have my son`s supercharged Mustang sitting in my driveway with a cracked block.
I bet the S60 would solve the grapevine problem. I won't be sure which engine it has until I see the pictures.

No,an S60 in that coach (Newell) will just be the start of your problems!
An 8.3 Cummins is a better choice for a repower in that coach.
S60's are heavy!!!!!!

Prevost is very nice inside- and if you can fix the water in the oil business- a bargain
Prevost should have an 8v92 Detroit

I agree with you,its a bargain.
But a long way away!

Question to ask, what caused the first engine failure?

Good question. Rock solid engines- operator error, perhaps?

Did it have water in the oil before the rebuild?

They do look cool!
Randy is right on both. They are 4 cycle engines though, and have a distinct sound when at idle.

I had two of them and both were very reliable. However, neither could pull a greasy string out of a ducks behind unless you chained them together, and I could not get 5 MPG if I towed them behind a wrecker.

After testdriving a 1989 Newell 38' with 8V92 and the 1988 Bird 40' 8V92 in my opinion the bird drives and handles better due to the tag axle. It gives you more stability.
I do not think you get parts for a 555 ...
The Newell had single axle rear. The bird has Safe T steer added though.
And I owned a pusher with a 3208 turbo. 250hp is slooooow uphill, more efficient on fuel though. Just my ramblings.
