Yep, same way here. Once you touch the throttle under 30 the converter unlocks and then will not lockup again until 30MPH

But back on the original topic: This is a great mod and if you didn't do it before when Sean Dixon organised it, you should. Remember, on the occasion you want it go to 4th, all you have to do is push the trans button. So you have more options.

When I had my S60 coach, the jake would definitely engage/re-engage well under 30 mph.

The Allison/jake pre-select from 4th to 5th was the second best mod I ever made. The 1st best was having the jake configured to engage when tapping the service brakes - verses the normal throttle lift.

I'm pretty sure my Detroit will engage above 15 mph and disengage around 8. And like Clint said this mod along with the select switch are 2 of my favorite mods.

I have a 5th gear reprogram but my low jake causes a judder at low speeds. Wonder if that requires converter lockup whereas the high setting does not. It's on my low priority to fix list.

I agree here 100%. My BB engages at 4 th gear and on long straight descent that was to slow . Now with it in 5 th gear I can comfortably hold 60 or so all the way down . I do at times manually gear down in a traffic situation but otherwise I just leave the Jake on all the time .

That what I thought. After traveling through Canada and Alaska with three Detroit equipped Birds, I didn't think they had the same issue.

I would like to talk to them about another issue. My Jake will not engage if you have not reached 30 mph. After that if it turns off you have to you have to reach 30 again. That's a problem if your in really steep areas.
Rick, mine would work as long as I manually down shifted to Second gear.
