Default Door latch

My door latch finally gave out locking me outside. I found this skinny little guy who fit through the kitchen window and used a pair of channel locks to grab the mechanism. I couldn’t find anything in the archives but does anyone have a replacement or repair parts for a Theodore Bergman BMC10-30-010 main door latch? TIA

Search bargman l-300, there’s a few that pop up.

Have you looked at what failed on yours ? I pulled mine apart this summer cleaned it up and lubed it and stretched out my springs made a big difference. You can find replacement springs at ace just need match them up, my ace at the time didn’t have much of a selection so I stretched the old springs and it did the trick.

Thanks for the help. I didn’t know the Bargman L300 was a cross.
Kiki, the springs are fine, replaced a few years ago. Everything is loosey-goosey and riveted to pot metal. The slider raises up by the springs and misses the rotating dog.
Bill, the link goes directly to a BMC 10-30-010. Great find. Thank you.

Darryl, Take the lock off of the bedroom window. Not likely anyone will attempt entry there anyway. I did that a long time ago. At least if you are locked out you won't need a "skinny" guy to help you. The window is big enough even for me and there is a soft place to land to protect these old brittle parts we have.

If you do a google search there appears to be exact replacements being made in the $30.00 range.
Don't know anything about them other than what is advertised.

The so called exact replacements are cheap Chinese knock offs. For $30.00 they will be problematic. There are still repair kits available and rebuilt units. Once in awhile a new one shows up. But bring your wallet. AFAIK none of the replacements are chrome. Black plastic. The best ones are from TriMark. You can phone them and they will tell you which one is the correct unit. Remember that a motorhome door lock is quite different from one for a trailer.

I repaired my door latch by fastening down the slide retainer, between the two springs, with a 6-32 bolt & nut. Thoroughly cleaned and new white lithium grease and it operates smooth like butter.
