Default Refurbishing my '72 prototype

People have been asking me for pics of my project, a 1972 35 foot diesel pusher. Built on a Jay Madsen chassis, Bluebird made a few prototype pusher units with their bodywork and interiors. It had been sitting for 6 years in Bakersfield. New battery and tires/rims and drove it home last weekend. Removed all the flooring and couches. Found 2 brand new sofas at Walts RV surplus for 1/2 price. Getting rid of the battery boilers and replacing with converter/charger. Considering a tankless water heater. Had one in my last house and loved it. Needs a dinette built. Now some pictures.

Currently has a Cummins 555 turbo with Allison MT-41 6 speed. Originally had a Ford gas unit.

I like it!
(Suska, take notice of the dash and the wanderlodge letters on the overhead)
On the Madson chassie, give us some info on it,I remember hearing or reading something about them, but a refresher would be nice.
I have never seen a black steering wheel in an older bird.
White seemed to be the color of choice.

I ran across that site and considered it. I really would like to duplicate the original dinette design, so I will fabricate the plinth and seat frame from ply, upholster the frame like the original and make the cushions. Film at 11.

After noticing a growing pool of fluid under the steering gear, I started a search for the leak. I have a digital borescope and started looking from the bottom and thought maybe the return line, but couldn't see well from that angle. So I pulled the steering column and saw it was the input seal. Making calls tomorrow for a kit, it looks like it can be replaced without pulling the box. It is a Ross HF64, anyone else replace the input seal with advise?

Hi Randy,

The Madsen chassis has an Rockwell I-beam front axle with air suspension (2 bags in front with leaf spring helper, 4 in rear), Ross power steering. Original engine was Ford Gas, repowered in the 80's with diesel. The engine doors are huge and make working back there easier. Some exterior pics tomorrow with my polishing efforts documented.

Jason,
I ordered a seal kit for the top cover last week. I am hoping it is an easy fix. If you go first, TAKE PICTURES, please. It looks easy from the blow-up diagram. There are three seals in the top cover kit.
