Default SP holding tanks

I am looking for a diagram of the holding tank plumbing in my SP. My Blue box manual does not show this as it was "unavailable at the time of printing". I am going to install the Garnet SeeLevel sensors on the tanks. In gazing at the black tank it "appears" that it disappears underthe middle of the coach, and the gray tank may consist of two connected tanks. I am unable to confirm this by crawling under the coach. The underchassis sheathing conceals a lot.

I have had the tanks out of 2 1989 SP's.
Theres one gray tank, one black tank, they are tapered and slide together from each side, wedging themselves together with plywood between them.
I was fixing tank leaks, and paid no attention to the plumbing.

Both of these coachs i worked on had holes in the tanks from the tank heaters, the switch for the tank heaters was not connected to the heaters, the tank heaters were on 100% of the time,a circuit breaker would turn them off but was not marked properly.
I smoked a pair of wire cutters on both coachs, cutting wires with 120 volts on them..

Thanks, Randy. Were they stepped at the top? And I just shut off the CBs to the holding tanks.

The two tanks (at least on my coach) are sort of stair stepped. As Randy said, they interlock to fit neatly under the coach. Each side of the coach has a bay that you can see both tanks in, butted up against each other.

As for the tank sensors, I remember seeing one set in the curb side tank bay. It's been a while. I don't recall if those sensors were for the grey or black.

Mark, if you want to make sure that the heaters are off, there is a junction box in the first compartment behind the coach entrance door that houses the connection for the heaters. Open it up and test it to be sure that the CB for the heaters was properly marked. If there is still power there disconnect the wires. Once disconnected that box is a great place to put a 120vac receptacle. That was how it was in my 91 SP.

I am a little slow to see this in my mind. If I took outer sheet metal cover off the curbside tank compartment, would I see both tanks from there, just one wide side of the gray tank and one pointed end of the black tank?

Mark,

It's been a couple of years, but if I remember correctly, I thought i could see parts of both tanks. I do recall seeing the tank monitor sensors that connect to the tank in there as well.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. It's been a while since I had a need to remove that sheet metal.

No problem. Thanks for the help. Tomorrow I will post the answer. Too rainy today and very windy here in Key West. Nothing like elsewhere, though.
