Default Perna's Compound

Well, we've just about completed our winter maintenance work while here at "Perna's Compound" for the winter. So far we've done 6 new Bridgestone 12R22.5 tires.

Moved 4 year old steers to the tag.

Replaced 8 new bushings in drive axle control arms.

Checked, cleaned and lubed all brake components. And lubed chassis.

Removed the 220 volt gen fan motor and replaced it with a 2 speed 12 volt unit. Set it up with 2 relays. One for low speed and the other kicks in via a snap disk at 185 degrees.

Had the gen radiator recored. That bill was a surprise. $495.00!

About 10 years ago I installed a 63 amp alternator on the generator. Dedicated just to the gen battery. Since it was starting to make a little bearing noise, I replaced that too. And since the 2 speed fan draws 25 amps on high speed, I replaced the alternator with a 90 amp unit.
While the gen radiator were out, I replaced a leaking hose for the HWH levelers. (It was in that same compartment).

Installed 30 amp buddy plug in my coach.

And of course lots of little "round to it" jobs in between all the bigger stuff.

Been a very productive winter.

SUMMER JOBS THAT ARE WAITING ARE:

New injectors in my 8V. NEW injectors from DD are almost $500 each. I found a guy that had 8 NEW old stock DD 9G90 injectors on ebay. I offered him 50 bucks each, and he took it. Brand new in the box!

Full tune up and valve adjustment while we do the injector job.
I use the Snap on dial indicator method for injector timing rather than the pin method. Thanks to Barry Rhodes for the use of his tool!

Also this summer, injector timing and valve adjustment on Steve Papas coach.
2 main and rod bearing replacement jobs this summer too. One on my 8v and the other on Shane's 6v.

Looks like it's gonna be a very productive summer as well.

Next winter a bearing job on Barry Rhodes 8v also awaits us.

And I want to thank Don for helping me with the front HWH jacks on my coach, checked my slack adjusters and changed the tag drums for future needs.

I am recovering from 2 surgeries and getting ready for a third April 30th with a 6 week recovery, so not much happening until summer heat sets in.

Mary and I both enjoy Don and Janes visits as you will laugh until your sides hurt.

Thanks again Don

Hey Randy...who you calling old? LOL
Remember, you're only as old as you feel.

And AL...yes I'll be here when you return. Just gonna take a break and go look at some properties in the Lake City FL area. We'll be back Wed or Thur.
And we'll get on those repairs you need done. I'm actually looking forward to it. Oh boy...I get to work on a Prevost!!
