Default Ceiling Spot Light LED Bulbs "Cheap"

These LEDs look pretty good for the price of $1.59 each. If you are looking to replace your ceiling spotter's halogen bulb with LEDs, this may be the best deal going;>

Chuck, make sure that they are not polarity sensitive. I bought some cheap ones only to find out that some of my sockets were not wired the same was as the LEDs. These LEDs would only work when installed upside down. Some of the better ones have some inline diodes included so they work no matter which side of the socket is hot.

Chuck, We purchased some LED lights from Mike Putz. LOVE THEM! Cost more but have a life time guarantee. Since we plan on keeping this bus for a very long time, figure to come out ahead on them.

Thanx Doc,

The Neutek product is American made, lifetime warranty, color guaranteed, and non-polarity so can be install into any socket. I can get just about anything needed for our coaches and in many color choices. B15 base, G4 Halogen, Wedge, strips, etc...

Check specs and warranty, that will explain it all.

Neutek will be at the Q again this year so drop by and say Michael Putz said "Hi".. you'll get a deal.

Check the brightness on these closely. They are advertising;

G4 2-2.5W 6x5050 SMD 60-70LM 2800-3200K Warm White Light LED Spot Bulb (12V)

Nuetek product for this is either 160lm or 200lm depending on the model you choose. They are advertising 60-70lm. Lumens is directly related to cost.

Well, I ordered and received the “cheap” G4 LEDs a while back and just got over to the coach to install them. They appear to be very good quality and each was packed individually in a box in a poly bag. My son and I installed all of them in about 30 minutes. Every one of them worked perfectly. They are as bright as or even brighter than the halogen bulbs they replaced. I think replacing 30 of my ceiling lights for less than 50 bucks is a pretty good deal.

WOW.. that's really "cheap".

Let us know how they perform, color, longevity, etc... Might want to show one of those to Kelly at Neutek for some feedback?

Bruce,

I forgot to mention that we did cut about an eight of an inch off the prongs so the LEDs would be centered in the light fixture. Also, you may get expidited shipping for your order over 50 bucks...

Older thread but wanted to mention I ordered 50 of the LED's mentioned at the link above. The link leads to 50 lumin/.5 watt LED "bulb" disks even though higher power ones are available. These "el cheapo" bulbs are now only .87 each with free shipping and 20% off if you order 50 (total outlay = $35). The higher power bulbs that use 2-4 watts each and put out up to 220 lumins are still less than $3 each. If you call up the link above several options come up. Just make sure they will fit in the housings. Realizing that 50 lumin bulbs would be dimmer than the old H bulbs but wanting to keep the cost, wattage and heat down, I decided to try the .87 cent bulbs. Figured at $35 total I'd give these a try and if I need more light above certain areas I could always order a small number of higher output bulbs. I could also have sent back the smaller output bulbs and exchanged for higher output ones as the sellers return policy is quite liberal. Delivery (from Germany I think) was very fast and the seller updates you by email for each step of processing. Took me a couple hours to change all 40 or so bulbs in the coach and I have about 10 left over for spares. Notes for the install: 1) Use finger nails slid along and into lens trim ring joint to remove glass lenses 2) As mentioned I also trimmed about 1/16" length off bulb prongs 3) Some prong holes were slightly larger apparently caused by thicker halogen bulb prongs being used or replaced by PO. As a result, some replacement LED bulb prongs did not fit tight. To fix, using needle nose pliers I gently bent LED prongs up (toward the back of the disk) then back down about an 1/8" further down the prongs. This slight zig-zag bend allowed the prongs to fit tight & make better contact. Pushing prongs into the housing connector with this slight bend was no problem. 4) Disk prongs can be bent slightly in the housing to center the disks & make them fit straight across the housings. 5) Be careful with the glass lense covers. I broke one when it came out of the housing trim ring too easily and fell on the hard counter below Lucky it broke in two, so I superglued it and put it back in the housing.

All of the LED "bulbs" worked perfectly when mounted as described above. If you look right at a "bulb" you can see the individual LED's but otherwise it is impossible to tell the difference. The 50 lumin light is softer (which I like) and only slightly less bright than prior H's but warm color is a perfect match to the old bulbs. Heat produced is a small fraction of old H bulbs. Put your palm over one of the 'ON' LED bulbs and you can just barely feel some warmth. You could never do that with halogens! Best of all, if I turn EVERY one of the previous Quartz 12v lights in the coach ON I'm only burning 20 watts total and that's less than just ONE of the old H bulb energy suckers! As previously mentioned, I may find I need to upgrade to higher lumin bulbs over kitchen counter, in bath and perhaps over dining table. But thought at only $35 total for ALL new LED's, I'd give these a try first.

Plan to do interior spots and large fixture lamps next, then on to my exterior lighting . So far this is the best $35 I've spent on the coach and I'm a very happy camper!!
