Replaced the Dupree valves today. Ordered last week Friday. Quick service. I won’t be “that guy” at the WOG.

Got the generator battery back, fully charged and load tested. In and working fine. Even though we have a big bank of Battle Born batteries we keep a 12 volt bank in the back where the old house batteries lived. Work the 12 volt lights and relays. It was time to pull them all out, clean them up, add water. Made a few new jumper leads. They are charged by a 110VAC yacht charger I got at West Marine a when I out them in. Ready to run if Ian takes a hard right.

Default Need tires

Has anyone used motorhometires.com for new tire purchases and installs? Looking at all my options.
It is the last thing on my list before we take off after all the repairs and upgrades we have accomplished over the last year.

We got the annual safety inspection done on ours so we can renew the tags. While at the inspection station waiting for our turn, the guy who's car was in the bay at the time walked up and asked us what year it was. That turned into a decent conversation. He actually worked at a shop on the southwest side of Houston that specialized in Wonderlodges. He said he actually got an expense-paid trip to the factory in Georgia where he could follow a new bus from start to finish. Said Bluebird paid for the trip, and the dealer paid his wages while he was there.

He asked if we had the swing out radiator, which we don't. He said installing those was big business back in the day. He said 'you don't see these much anymore', and complimented on how ours looked. Nice conversation!

Oh, and the bus passed!! :-)

What does a safety inspection in Texas entail for a Wanderlodge?

Today was moving day. Cleaned out the old bus and moved everything into the new one. More storage in a 93 WB40 than a FC35

For an old FC, mostly watching the inspector scratch his head trying to figure out the VIN. (no 11-character VIN on these things).

It kind of varies from place to place, inspector to inspector, but really just the usual safety bits;
Headlights, low/high
Brake lights
Turn signals
Horn
Check the wiper blades.
tread depth on the tires.

I'm sure there's other stuff that's supposed to be checked, given it's a truck chassis, but we haven't been asked about anything else, and haven't asked 'is that it?'.

Since it's over a certain GVW, we can't opt for 'antique' tags, which would exempt us from any inspection, so safety it is.

Replaced the rear light bulb holders on the SP. The original ones were pretty beat, I was able to find new replacements on eBay. The taillights are Volvo units and instead of sourcing the correct connectors Bluebird, in their infinite wisdom, used a combination of crimp terminals and silicone sealer to connect up the lights. What a mess. So a quick trip to the U Pull It to find a set of connectors on an old Volvo. Luckily I was able to find some that only needed a small modification to fit. With that I reworked the harness and now have all lights working. Furthermore, should I ever have to swap out the bulb holders in the future, it's plug and play.
