Just sayin'. There are various different reasons for "additives" and various different "additives" for various different reasons. I'm thinking that if you are planning on staying at your location or south during the winter you don't need an anti gel additive. If you plan on going north then consider it. The biocide is a different issue. That can be a problem most anyplace, but maybe more of an issue if you are north, due to high temp swings during the day and night. The warmer weather and smaller temp swings will most likely be less of a problem. Like Van said, the best policy is to keep the tank full. I hope this helps sort it out for you.

It all depends on your locations and weather conditions. BioBor will help prevent algicide in your tank. However, it can also create havoc if you already have algae in your tank. It will kill it and it will release from the sidewalls of your tank and then plug up your fuel filters. The Power Kleen or many other additives will increase Cetane, which is important but also help prevent gelling in winter temps. Van lives in the desert most of the time and not too worried about fuel gelling. You live south and may also not have to worry about it. However, I live up north and I not only need "winter blend" fuel but add Power Kleen or something similar to prevent gelling in extreme cold temps, which we get in the winter. Just sayin'. That makes sense to me, Jim. It is best to look at the total framework and apply accordingly. Thank you for pointing that out and helping me to understand the total concept. I keep my tank full. Working on my laundry list of projects: new hot water heater, fuel filters, check belts and I have wanted to address the lower radiator hose for 22 years so this is the year! I added more flexible hose and added a 90 with 2" legs. The intake for the 90 is facing rearward so the hose comes off the radiator and makes a big enough 180 so as to not cause a kink. The previous setup had flexible hose only and would cause a ~50% kink over time, heating, cooling, hard bending. Also, new antifreeze.
