Default Roof Top Spot/Flood light

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know if the motor on the spot/flood light can be repaired?
It will go up and down but will not rotate.

I believe it is repairable. It has a friction drive so it may just be slipping. The friction drive prevents the motor from straining at the ends of the rotation. On my old bird there was a cracked plastic sleive. One of the other forum members mailed me his old one and I fixed mine. I sent the remaining parts on to another member.

The manufacturer should be able to supply parts, but I would expect them to be pretty pricey. Try just a good cleaning, but don't get oil on the friction surfaces.

I called the factory and they can't get my light any longer. I will check out what you posted.

Thanks for the Info

Default Rob repaired mine

My spot light did the same thing, but not all of the time, so Rob Robinson removed it from my roof and I believe adjusted and lubed it and it has worked great ever since. I just used a single filament sealed beam aircraft nose gear landing light, so I only have the spot and no flood but that is all I wanted anyway, plus I had some of those sealed beams on hand anyway.

Default GO LIght

I believe the light on your bird was made by a company called go light. They have a web site http://www.golight.com/

Default Roof Top Spot Lights

Upon inspection of our new 86FC the owner told me he found the Spot lights disconnected.

Do these units present any kind of problem that would lead someone to disconnect them? Is this a headache that I need to made aware?

If not I need to get them hooked back up to the correct circuit so will need help from the local "Sparky" expert.

Thank you.

Default Spot Light Drawings

Congratulations on your new purchase.

I downloaded the attached drawing from either the WOG files section or, perhaps it may have been the Yahoo files. The drawing was originally prepared in 1982 and there may be some revisions for the newer Birds

Unless you are able to find a more recent drawing, you may be able to use this drawing as a guide in trouble shooting your spot lights.

Good Luck in your quest.

Default Spot Light

Attached are schematics associate with the Dual Spotlights; I have spent many an hour getting them to work properly. The schematic cover several years, Bluebird did not spend much time reinventing the wheel. The spotlight components are located in the upper left compartment over the driver. The spotlights were made by JABSCO.
