Default Inverting on the road to run refrigerator on AC instead of LP

Now that we have solar energy I was thinking to invert and run the refrigerator on AC while driving, instead of LP or turning it off!

However, it is plugged into a circuit that is not on the inverter! Is there a good way to bring the plug inside and plug it into the outlets I know are on the inverter! Or, run a line from one inside to the Refer outlet in the outside mini door?

Ammonia fridge isn’t real efficient on AC. Mine draws about 40 DC amps. And doesn’t seem to cool as well.
Only time I use AC is winter and plugin hookup.
You could move some circuits in your breaker panel to inverter loads? Does the 91 have inverter breakers in the panel?
If not can create a sub panel for inverter loads.

I looked at that too. If you want to run it on solar it is better to change the fridge to a residential or mod the fridge to run on either a 12V or 120V compressor.

I was hoping for a quick fix! Given we only drive 300 miles when we do drive! I thought I can just switch plugs and walla!

But nothing ever is that easy, is it?

In the bedroom back closet, there is the AC breaker box and I believe I have see a inverter breaker in there! In the kitchen area right next to the fridge I have outlets that are on the inverter circuit and I use them for my Nespresso machine and toaster! So I though may be I could just somehow make it work! But I didn’t know that these type of fridge are not efficient. What do you think the draw would be in 300 miles/4 to 5 hour?

I would wonder how much LP you’d really save.
Your solar would probably offset. If during the day and sunny.
I get as much as 50 or 55 amps DC with mid day sun and only 3 x 300 watt panels with pt100 controller.

Not much of LP cost concern! But the phobia of running with LP on!

We just installed the solar and hit the road early morning! Haven’t checked to see what charge we are getting! Is there a way to know what we have gotten all day? Does PT 100 show?

I don’t notice any difference when running the fridge on AC. Doug maybe your heating element is not working right ? I don’t think there is any issue running the fridge on propane while driving, but I could be wrong, not the first time.
You could call Leon in Shipshewana, he is definitely the authority on this subject http://fixyourfridge.com/
You don’t need to go to a residential fridge.
At worst I think you would just have to run a new wire to the outlet behind your fridge that runs off the inverter. When your driving your going to get an additional charge to your batteries from your alternator along with solar I don’t think your batteries will have trouble keeping up.

That is what I thought, but what do I know? I’m just an accountant, Learning about RV’s as I go on!

Just have to find out where do I get the wire from a circuit nearby that is on the inverter.
