Default No voltage to LPG solenoid

In an attempt to get our gas to the stove and refrig, we checked the solenoid and it's working fine when hooked to an outside 12V power source. There is no voltage coming to the solenoid from the wires going into it on the coach. Where do those wires come from? Why are we not getting any voltage there? Any ideas on how to proceed? All the master switches are on. Thanks!

Not sure where it is on your '89, but the power for the solenoid comes from the LP gas detector. On mine it is under the fridge.

In an other thread you stated you changed the batteries on the coach. If you had power to the stove & refrigrator gas solenoid before you should now.. Maybe one of your new batteries has a bad cell or two pulling down the power. You have to have 12 volts or better for the solenoid to function, if not it will close. It will be warm to the touch if it is functioning. Check the new batteries with a volt meter to make sure all are good at 12.5 or better, if so check your ground on the battery cables. It has to be something simple. Good luck

Do you have an "LPG Master" switch? Some are on the dash. 91SP36 has one on the tank monitor panel. 84FC doesn't have one at all.

On mine the electronics master, the LP master and another switch in the base board has to he on. I am in the road so I cannot point you to the appropriate fuse panel. I believe mine may be in the overhead panel above the driver but cannot be certain. Do you have prints?

I did some checking and there is voltage to the soleniod but it regesters at between 2 and 2-1/2 volts why such voltage why not 12 like it is supposed to be? The soleniod works I checked it with an outside source of 12 volts.

Sounds like it is working, the detector under the refrig, sniffs for propane , takes several seconds,, then it open the solenoid with 12 volts , then holds it open with about 2 to 8 volts, depending on the mfg. model.

Still could be low voltage, low propane pressure ( defective regulator). Do you have propane at the stove??, or heaters??? or refrig???
The piezo spark stove ignitors only work when plugged into shore power or generator. The stove propane burners needs a match to lite the burner if not on 110 Volts.
Do not leave the direct 12 volts attached to the solenoid, it will really heat up & fail. Use 12volts only for testing.
Did the proane flow with the 12 volts direct???

and also some 91SP36 have one little button and red LED on the drawer face under the dinette, facing the main walkway across from the stove. That one is VERY easy to accidentally knock to OFF. Been there, done that.

I have that one on the 91SP too and they BOTH must be on for the propane to flow.
