Default 1977 Dodge Travco

Here is something on the unique side.

Quote:
This gorgeous 1977 Dodge Travco motorhome strikes a bittersweet chord as you read through the description. Somehow, it has survived in impeccable condition, not an easy feat for the type of vehicle that typically becomes a homeless encampment by this stage of its life. No, it’s a one-family owned vehicle used solely for summer vacations with impressive cosmetics but unfortunately, an engine with low compression. Find this tale of preserved woe here on eBay with bids to $5,900 and the reserve unmet.

Bidding already over $11K (12/18 at noon). Pretty cool vintage small RV.

Nice unit but it is going to need some work. That 440-3 probably has bad valves as they were not hardened in that year. Parts for the good old 440's are hard to find. Brake parts, King pins, steering gear, exhaust manifolds. Even the thermostat is non existant. Not sure but a 77 might have split rims. Overpriced but nice.

Couldn't find brake parts for that chassis 30 years ago. Had a hard time with RB Mopar engine parts in the mid 80's. Only the most dedicated and handy should consider one of these.

There is a forum that has lots of info on those old Mopar powered RV's. I had a Vogue on the M600 Dodge Chassis. That was in the 90's and even then parts were hard to find.

Before we bought our first Bird I was looking for a unit that could withstand the bad Mexican roads. My short list was: Travco, Superior and Winnie. Maybe a 75 Chieftan. They were all on the Dodge Chassis. Some were 318's and some the 440. Hard to find anything decent in those models. The Winies all had bad roofs and the insides become moldy. Most of the others had sat for so long they were like the proverbial 32 Ford. Trees growing through the floor! I had given up and one day had a epiphany! Maybe a Bluebird! The rest is history!
