Original CCTV camera and monitor from my 79 FC33. Does not work. TV powers up, but no picture. Cannot tell if camera works. Both are 120V
Free to good home.

Just replace that stuff with new. Only hard part is if you have to run a cable from from to back and you may not even have to do that since there was already a camera there. I did it twice. Trust me I can do it anyone can. Stephen has back up camera's I believe and there are plenty of sources on the web. Don't know which are the best. Likely the more you spend the better but it's certainly easier then the leveler jacks.

One drawback I ran into was everything (new) I was able to find had night vision capabilities. This works OK if you mount the camera outside. Mounting inside behind a window created a reflection of the LEDs which rendered the camera almost useless at night. I tried placing a light inside the camera compartment to trick the camera into thinking it was daylight but that did not help much as the added light also reflected off the glass. The solution was to disable the LEDs in the camera. I am extremely happy with this new camera setup with the wider angle lens. I can now see over and around the trailer when I am towing and it also provides left and right lane views close to the rear of the coach. Much easier to see approaching and passing vehicles - like having additional side view mirrors mounted on the rear of the coach.

When my original camera gave up I bought one from Stephen. I made up an adapter to connect it to the existing shielded cable and power. It workes fine with the original TV/monitor. However, the original monitor is beginning to fade, so more money is needed.
NOTE: The S-video connector matches the camera connector physicaly, but the camera is not an S-video device. Here are some pics.

Heckman-
New camera is installed which is why this is in the garage. A cheap Chinese job with wide angle/night vision and 7" monitor is about $50-75 on eBay. Works fine, cannot imagine a huge improvement by paying more. I am offering the old one if anyone wants it prior to sending it to the big junkyard in the sky. KC- Same problem, IR does not penetrate glass. OK thru plastic but I did not want to change out that item. Black electrical tape cured it. I supplemented my back-up lights with a pair of 55W lights. Gardner- WOW! I'm not worthy! Mine was 120V, new one is 12V, the motor generator was not working at the time, so I did not even have that power. Running the video cable was a PIA, especially over the door. Would have been nice to get/make an adapter, but I didn't know it could be done.

The monitor is nothing but snow on our new coach, and I need to do something, so thought a new wide-angle one would be good. Not sure I need color, unless it is just as cheap. But I sure don't want to pull new cable if I don't have to.
Couple of years ago I was doing some homework on replacing the camera and monitor on our previous coach. The owner of RVcams.com in Baton Rouge lead me to believe that he probably had adapters that would mate-up both ends of the existing cable in the Bird, to whatever new monitor and camera that was purchased. Is this not necessarily the case for all instances, thus is that why either new cable or the "Gardner Connector" would be needed?

Put one of those colour ones in my SP two years ago, went from overhead compartment through roof, along aluminum tread channel beside goat rail to rear then mounted camera to rear goat rail. Worked like a charm. Had to be better than running 12v cable through interior of coach IMO

On my '83 it switches to television mode with the key off, and that may get snow without a signal. On mine it gets a verticle green line. The shielded line from the camera to the monitor will work for most cameras, but like I did, you may need to make or locate an adapter.
