My take on the racors:
Lots of guys don't like them.
Lots of shops have never seen one
Personally,i like them
Most Birds have them,so if you need a filter at a rally somebody will have one.

My old PT had 2 spin-ons and one racor. I liked that I could see sediment fallout in the Racor bowl. But I never had priming or vacuum issues. I'd have been inclined to remove it if I did.

I also carried several sets of new spin-on cartridges and racor. And kept an eye on the racor gauge.

In the end, I never had an issue and probably changed my fuel filters too often (maybe every 10k). But I didn't drive that many miles.
