Default CAT 3208 Engine Serial And Arrangement Numbers How To Find Them

Whenever you inquire about, or order parts for your Caterpillar engine, be sure to have both the SERIAL and ARRANGEMENT NUMBERS with you, as they will most likely ask you for them. Here is how to find those numbers at least on my old CAT 3208NA and my newer CAT 3208T Caterpillar factory remanufactured versions, I would suspect that the location will be the same on the TA version also.

Here is where my newer Caterpillar 3208T Caterpillar Factory Remanufactured Engine numbers are located

On the oil pan;

On the Valve Cover;

Some Caterpillar dealers will ask for the Serial number, the Arrangement number and the Reference Serial numbers, so have them all with you just in case they ask.

Yep,
Check out John's' picture and check this Identification plate.
It is diffeicult to see and read, covered with an oil film and dirt.
When removong the valve covers to adjust the valves, this plate
fell off of our 88 FC. These numbers are important.

Default found it

You both were so helpful and right. Thanks to the pictures, found the serial number way in the back, filthy and almost impossible to see. Only the serial number was visible and everything else obliterated. I hope that I don't need the arrangement # or the reference serial # cause they just aren't there. Laurie

what parts are you needing??? You will find Cat will need that arrangement # unless you find a helpful counter man. Perhaps someone with a like coach can provide you with their #s. Depends on what parts you need.
