tom ,

thanks for that info but you gotta understand that this is not my first rodeo and for sure not randys. We got this!!!!! Go out and look at your bus and you will see that the rear chunk is upside down....that is why all pushers need to not spin the tires as the gears are running on the back side of the ring gear and are more likely to break~!~

i was simply asking for the ecu calibration for a bmc 37' with the mech 8.3 and md3060p transmission.....

If you know Mr Horne-please contact him for the calibration code numbers off a bmc ECU --not transmission number nor VIM number and i will gladly pay him or anyone for his services~

BB would not give them to me on the school bus side,,.

I did not have time to ask the CC folks today!--Gotta JOB ~

thanks for any and all help!

Woody from what you have posted so far on the forum asking for help with this transmission there is no way I could have known if you knew one end of the horse from the other or even how many rodeos you have been in<laughing>. And I am aware of Randys mechancal abilities even though I have not personally met him and shook his hand.

I believe you are going to need the Allison tag information from the transmission, serial number etc, rear end information, vehicle weight, tire size etc before anyone can reprogram your tranny so that it works correctly for you. Hey Woody we all learn from carrying on this kind of information don't we? If I am wrong please correct me and I will get on the "stick".

I do not know Ray Horne personally just talked to him several times. I gave you that tidbit so you could attempt to find him and get the information.

As for shearing off the gears in the rear ends it will happen in a pusher and forward control with equal certainty if you do not come to a complete stop in reverse before putting the transmission in drive and stomping on the pedal. The coaches just weigh to much for the rear ends to be able to take that kind of torque going in the wrong direction.

Tom,woody is right, the third member or "chunk" is turned upside down in the SPs,PTs and WBs.
but,the axle housing is turned upside down and brackets installed for that application.
Ridewell welds the brackets,or maybe spicer did it to ridewell specs.
Having the 'chunk' upside down means the engine is driving the coast side of the ring gear, the side that normally is used for backing up or slowing down.
according to spicer, its no big deal to run it backwards.

every TCM is programed to the application, weight, engine torgue,HP,engine RPM,and a million other things come into play here.
that same tranny woody has (3060 allison) is used in all kinds of thrucks and busses,it can be run as a 4 speed,a 5 speed or a 6 speed, its got two reverse gears, and its got an economy "mode",it can also run two PTOs for pumps etc.
the military has a drop box,or transfer case that bolts to it,to provide 4 wheel drive as needed.
so,what we need is the program out of a BMC tranny, its listed on the TCM in a 13 digit number, next to the bar code.

Talking

i have been call the back end a few times!!

I "think" i can do it here in my 40x40 shop but dupree and me are best buddys for a long time and we will have a lot of fun doing this!!!!!!!!

I have had a member call and ask where is the ecu on a bmc so I am asking if anyone knows or is close to the bus papers ------please tell me or post so we can get this set of numbers....

and also I dont know where 1 bundle of wires go but got a ALLISON manual in the mail today and a military disc to show me how we ck out all codes for this 3060 allison-- I also found 1 for the 4060 so i wll try and download that info and put it on disc for the newer coachs!

in all the files you got and have posted--there is not a maual to tell me where the ecu is or wiring on those coachs..I have email Macy to have 1 of his parts folks to look this up if possible and maybe I can pay Coachworks for something!!

Woody,
I would think that the codes would be the same on any motorhome that used the 3060 trans. and the mechanical C8.3. You might be able to find them from another manufactuer.

The plastic module I found is under the drivers window - outside. Key locked door.

Cover on the module says: P/N 29509688, S/N J009012
Took outer cover off module, number inside: 29509439, Rev A.

Far forward top metal module under this same locking cover under the drivers window:

Top number I can read, but not what it is: 29511212

Allison P/N 29511841 07/07/1993

Motorola SN 2089574 model BPB0005.

Sent pics and emails to Woody.
