This is a great thread, about the Pro's and Con's of Using Vbulletin, FaceBook, Smart phones, Laptops, IPads, etc.
We also generated a dialogue, so we can better understand User Needs, wants, desires, & the future.
So now what??, This is my input, my 2cents, my opinion, etc. trying to summarize the tentacles of this Octopus.

If you are interested in this subject, Please read this entire thread, and accept compromises are needed by all of us.
If Bluebird Wanderlodge information is important to you read on, if not, maybe it can be found somewhere else.
Also mentioned were Old Geezers, Idiots, lack of computer knowledge and unwillingness to change or learn. Hmmmm????

A bit of History and information for members that are unaware;
BB Yellow School bus Co. is still a viable product and business.
BB Wanderlodge was sold more than a decade ago. A new Wanderlodge has not been built in more than a decade.
After a few bankruptcies the factory was vacated and all inventory, tooling & machinery was auctioned and employees disappeared. A true Wanderlodge will never be built again. Hmmmmmmm?????
Wanderlodges' sold for about $150K to $1M from 1963 to 2008.The numbers are vague but supposedly a little over 4,000 were built.
As in all RV's and fun recreational items, values decreased, RV's are never a good investment.
Those old Geezers that lusted after a Wanderlodge and the dreams of retirement, could now afford a Wanderlodge.
They created few old forums that became obsolete or dissolved for a variety of reasons.
They attended the factory auctions and many purchased parts and excess inventory.
This was a good idea, in addition Wanderlodge is like a Class 8 Truck, so the parts are still available for repair & to keep it running, all the RV or interior decor & appliance items are readily available.
The only important piece missing is the BB Wanderlodge design, drawings and what was left of the intellectual property.
The old geezers came to the rescue and acquired most all the paper engineering drawings.
So please review the WOG files and the pictures attached.

The youngest Old Geezer that owns this forum and his helpers have over 100 years of experience with Wanderlodge. The membership that contributes is just plain awesome with much more experience. What other Corp can support a 20/40 year old product and give daily quick response.
The few helpers have over 50 years of experience with public forums, why they work and why they fail.
A few are computer literate, with long backgrounds with computer usage with software and laptop Windows applications, another was a trouble shooter in a factory computer controlled environment, There are also members helping with individual informational data bases.

So here is the deal;
The number of Wanderlodges available are declining, the number of WOG members are increasing. There is a small number for sale at any given time.
Check out the bottom of the Homepage for members on line, guests, number of threads and posts. The guests are the curious, non members looking for information, their brand X uses the same hardware that BB used, they find us for solutions to their issues searching Google, Bing etc.
We are not marketing a new product. We are a vast resource for Wanderlodge owners, prospective owners & those that are interested in a well documented dependable, luxury vehicle. We also allow non owners to join if this information can help them with their Dometic, Aqua Hot, 6V, 8V, 3208, Cummins, tranny's, pumps etc.

We love and use smart phones, we like Facebook, it brings us interest, FB chatters about our vehicles and rallies. Our Rally numbers are stable, with some increase. FBers catch the Blue Bird Fever. We are not in competition with FB or newer technology.

But if you are into this exciting adventure of fixing, restoring, upgrading, travel & friendship, new owners and the younger will need to learn how to use a technical VBulletin forum, to acquire the information needed to be happy, successful and live within their travel budget.

We WOG admins use Smart phones, it is a little cumbersome but doable. When we work the Forum we are usually on laptops.
So, along with all the $$ we spend on our BB travels, fuel and repairs, it will be in your best interest to purchase an Ipad or a Windows computer. They are available for less than $250, for a refurbished or at WalMart or Amazon.
If you want to drink from this major source of information, maybe changes and compromise are in your future.

The future;
We are very aware of the technology changes. We have a Web Master, the information is stored on a server with backup.
Our Web master advises us on upgrades and their pro's and con's. We have security, no pop-ups, no advertisers, no spammers. If you need help or ask a question, there will be an answer forthcoming or directions to a solution. This forum is almost 13 years old with still a clean record.
If owners are concerned we have a well thought out plan to easily train an admin person when the need arises.
The library of drawing, schematic etc are protected and will live on until the last Wanderlodge is traveling these roads of America.
Oh Yes!
For now it still free, unless we have helped you and you feel a need to Donate a few$$, since most owners are saving big bucks on repairs.

Default Wanderlodge,facebook,family and the future

First of all, there is nothing like a Bluebird, and definitely a Prevost would bend severly in a rollover as the Bluebird will not.

I am glad to be an almost Wanderlodge owner again, it has been hard in the last 4 years without one.
Bill Pape wrote a wonderful article - Amen.

The great thing I have noticed thus far on the WOG is that members do not have every mod, change etc in their signature. on teh Porsche and Hummer Forum I search and get the same individuals based on signatures and not the data.

Very well put Bill Pape. You summed it up nicely.

If someone really wants to complain that they can’t get “proper-ie. easy” access on a smartphone, then I really think they just want to hear themselves complain. If you can manage to scrape together enough sheckles for fuel and insurance, licenses, etc, surely you can get a cheap iPad if your phone is inadequate.

I’m one of those guys that likes to learn about the systems etc and I do a lot of that here, but I also learn about such big adventures as Randy’s trip to Alaska, or Key West or Flywheelers and all sorts of other fun things like boondocking or camping at Wally World. Thanks for allowing this former BMC owner to stay connected and involved. I haven’t been to a WOG rally yet but I’ve met a few members and should be able to enjoy a rally sometime soon.

Thanks to all who make this site so very good. Especially to Randy and the other moderators I appreciate you all.

Max.
