Default Air dryer (AD9)

Hello all

I am trying to change out the Bendix AD9 air dryer, the part store I deal with is asking if I have to get a 3/4" or 1/2" ports. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I know once the air dryer is of the coach it is not drivable.

Hisham,

What are they referring to concerning the 3/4" or 1/2" ports? I just did mine last month and did not get any questions regarding port size. There is a newer version of the AD9 which has a spin-on canister which takes the place of the older housing and internal spin off dessicant cartridge. But you have to have the correct base to mate with the new unit, so you can't retrofit it. The other "change" that's occurred is a newer style pop-off valve, but the rebuild kit for it had both styles in it, so it's also a mute point. You should just get the dessicant cartridge and a pop-off rebuild kit. The cartridge will come with the couple of o-rings that need replacing. Not a bad job, but not the easiest either.
