As far as loosing the cap... I have found a way to not leave mine behind... especially since to me now it’s irreplaceable... mine hangs nicely on the fuel door lock on the inside... the threads of the cap grab nicely on the lock cylinder of the door and it reminds you because you cannot close the door with it there..

When I lost mine I went to a large mom & pop hardware store. All I could find was a plastic cap that would screw on about 1-2 threads but would bind after that. It got me by until I got the correct 2 1/2" NPSH cap.

Okay, I ordered the cap from MRO Supply and the part number is FC250 21/2 npsh brass cap with chain and it fits PERFECTLY!!
