Default Looking for my first Bird

Don't know how much you want to spend, but look at the one in Edmonton, Ab, Canada, I think he want $65k for a 1999, and it has a much better engine than the 8V92, although the 8V92 is a good engine.

My budget is around $40k.
That one probably has the 60 series engine.
But I really like the 2 stoke diesel, not sure why, but love the sound always want one. Also like the older style buses “ vintage look” I think 1988 in the cut off year I could be wrong. LookS more like a schoolie.

For 40k your not going to get an S60.
unless its a real fixer upper!

But you should be able to get an 8V92 in the years your asking about.
Good luck!

Good pick. I wanted the same thing. Old school body with that sweet 2 stroke sound. I think you are right. 88 narrow body is last year for old school “PT”. 86 was first year for 8v92 in PT38/40 only. Someone correct me on this if I am wrong.

I think you are pretty close.. Randy can probably shed light on this, and at some point they went to DDEC engines. I think some have had issues with the DDEC 2, correct me if I am wrong?
I just saw a DDEC 6v92 posted on the bus grease monkey forum and thought it might be fun to play with one, maybe come up with an engine control to replace the DDEC, or be able to unlock the computer and figure out how you can improve it or repair them.
Here is the link if anyone is interested;

I think wide body “WB” are DDEC. Narrow body “PT” are mechanical.

One was wrecked about 10 years ago,totaled when it hit a tree.
