Default STEERABLE TAG

Well as I sit here in the parking lot of my Pa corporate home , in my warm Aqua hot coach, the snow is falling outside. i start thinking about what to do with my day ? Being a fare weather biker a ride is out of the question today . So while reading thru the WOG , I started thinking about my Tag Axle

you see ,We have one of the LXI s that came with a Steerable tag Axle . I was informed by Johnnie Anderson that it had been disabled some time ago by the PO .

I have asked fellow bird owners who have a operating tag about issues with its use and have not heard any negative feedback . I have heard from others what was possible issues but with proper use and speed setting it worked fine .

so my question is Can i restore its use ? and if so How is this done . There are times when its use would come in pretty handy .

I look forward to some feedback as we sit back and look at the Fireplace channel on the TV and read

Al my steer tag works well (knock on wood) but if it goes south I don't know who can repair it. I have heard that Dick Warren who owns a Royal Conversion Prevost has a pretty good handle on how they work and he might be able to advise you. I think he is still a WOG member so hopefully he will see this thread and comment.

Al,
Not sure what system you have, but Ridewell has a self steer version which I have attached a link to a site to allow you to download the brochure under the description as the file is just larger than 2 gig.
Hope this helps.

Al, Mine works perfectly. I had heard all of the horror stories and as part of the deal when I purchased my coach the tag was to be fixed in place. Johnny Anderson told me that it had worked fine for the 70000 miles it had already been driven and convinced me to drive it for a while before I disabled it. I have driven back & forth across the country twice with no issues and I really like the way it drives. Might quit tomorrow but until it does I'm going to leave it alone. It turns great and backs up great. As for restoring yours to working order we need to know how it was disabled. I think some had the lines disconnected and capped & were welded in place. I had also heard some had the steerable axle removed. There may be other ways it was done too. We need to know how it was done perhaps some pictures or documentation from the previous owner.
