Default engine batteries dead

I have a 1998 LXI. IT has napa commercial batteries (7237). Any ideas on different or better replacements or should I stay with the same? I have only owned it 1 year and even though they are only 2 1/2 years old I could tell last year that they were weak.

I have Interstate 31-VHD batteries for the three start batteries(1-gennie 2-coach). For the money I am very pleased. Bought the coach 5 years ago put those batteries in there a couple of months later. Never had a problem since.

Verify if the batteries are only 2 1/2 year they should have a longer life.
Check the charging system, the batteries could have been damaged by excessive discharging periods. We all have our favorite brands I use Deka, others use Trogan , Sam's Club, Costco, etc, all can have a useful life if maintained properly. Napa batteries are also good

Is there a more competitive place than Napa Auto Parts to purchase replacement 7237 engine batteries for an LXi?

Thanks for any replies in advance.

If they are only that old, and weak, unless one is bad, you more likely have a charging problem. They are not getting FULLY charged.

Thanks but the post you are referring to was from 5 years ago.

My post is current. (see right above yours)

I linked to this post because it was also about batteries for LXi's and I thought it would be good for anyone searching such as myself if it was all in the same place.

Jennifer, you will likely need 3 Group 31P (post) commercial batteries.

Sam's Club is having a battery sale Aug 5 in some areas,

or try your local Kenworth or Freightliner truck dealers. Last August, 1 year ago I replaced 3 group 31 batteries for $210 plus tax and core at my Kenworth dealer.

Thank you very much.
I'll check those sources. That is a great price!
Assuming group 31 batteries amps are the same as Napa's part number 7237?

I did check Costco, didn't carry them but I will check Sam's Club as well.

Jennifer, I would not install anything less than 950 CCA (cold cranking amps).

Thank you!

These are the Napa 7237 specs. They are actually on sale at Napa now at $120 something so no as expensive as before and with a 3 year warranty.

Battery BCI # Group 31P
Battery Cold Cranking Amps @ 0 Degrees F 950 CCA
Battery Cranking Amps @ 32 Degrees F 1170
Battery Posts Type Top Post
Battery Reserve Capacity (Minutes) 175 min
Battery Voltage 12 Volts
Battery Warranty in Months 36
Battery Weight 56.5 lbs

I did call Kenworth and they quoted me a price of $82.72 but they only had the screw in ones not the one with the posts.
