Did he check the 5 gallon hydraulic reservoir near the drivers side of the engine to see if there is enough fluid in it, first thing to check. Then look under the coach and see if there is dirty oil on the road from a burst oil cooler line. If so don't start the engine as the hydraulic pump will not have any lubricant and your woes could get worse. Its doubtfull if you can find a WOG member in that area that can be of much help. When mine blew a hose I called good sam and got the right tow truck and had it towed back home where I knew it could be repaired right. just make absolutely sure that you get the correct HEAVY BIG tow truck to move it. and make them take the drive shaft off and not to pop the axel out with the mess of oil all over everything as they tow it. Good luck Tommy

No help from here!
If theres no lines burst, and theres fluid in the tank, then i would suspect the splines on the pump,i have had them go bad before,on the 8v92 engine.
Not the same as the LXI pump and splines.
The 8V92 pump bolts to the engine under the bed.
If i remember right,Tommy had a pump put on by coachcraft a few years ago,or was that a fan motor?

Randy there is another possible problem, has the filters ever been changed. I am almost certain that mine never were and surprisingly my owners manual says little maintenance is necessary other then checking the oil level! Was hoping for the best for him, as a blown hose would have been better.

Thanks, all y'all and to Eddie Ray. We were enroute to Parkers Crossing, TN from Auburn. Left early, 'bird running good and made it to Birmingham where all of a sudden my Power Steering went out. Scared the bejeevers out of me and I could hardly turn the steering wheel. I did manage to get off the road onto the shoulder. Temps good, pressure good, air good, no flood of fluid on the ground BUT the fan was not running. Quick call to John Hughes at CoachCraft and the consensus was the hydraulic pump had gone south (just had a brand new one put in June 2010). Anyway, got a great tow (the driver was an Airstream owner and knew how to properly tow big RV's) and got home. I'll post his name and company as a resource in the Birmingham, AL later.
Now, I got to find a pump - John Hughes says 12 week delivery but I believe I can locate one for sooner delivery (I hope).

All's well that ends well but for all y'all out there that have not experienced a loss of power steering - be mindful, you'd almost have to be the Incredible Hulk to steer a 50 K lb bird to the shoulder with traffic flying by you.

Tommy, sorry for your trouble but glad you and Martha are safe.
Have you tried Stephen? I know he has the pump for the 60 Series, he may have or have a source for the one on yours too.
