Default 1999 LXi 43 electrical issues

To make an extremely long story short over the winter I had the bus on shore power and due to a bad breaker in the building I lost the power. Everything in the bus still wanted to run (heaters, fridge, etc.) until everything shut down and batteries dead. Upon discovering start batteries were dead and would not take a sufficient charge (10 years old). Replace batteries and engine started 1 time. Now when you turn the ignition switch on ABS light, transmission mode light, Do not start light come on and will not go off unless you disconnect the negative battery terminals. Can get slide to work and oh yeah, the front levelers are down and will not retract. On the HWH panel it indicates ready to travel. I had a big truck tech look at today and he is perplexed. He manually jumped the starter out and it turned. I turned the ignition switch ON but even with him jumping the starter the engine would not fire.

Any ideas where to START looking?

Maybe an ECU/ECM issue.

Just to begin segmenting the problem - might want see if K24 (neutral safety relay) is picking up when the key is turned to 'run' - and then if you have power on pin 30 of K24 when key is turned to 'start'.

If both of those are good then you should have power going to the starter relay.

If K24 doesn't pick up then check power on pin 86/85 with key in 'run' position. If you don't have something close to 12vdc on pin 86 then you can work back from there. If you don't see a voltage drop on pin 85 then you're not getting a ground signal from K3 in the Allison VIM.

Of course I'm assuming the starting circuit on the 99 is still very similar to how it is on the 95-97 series WB.

biff,

you have been around for a while but going to the basics cant hurt.

bay doors closed
trans in neutral
brake on

just a few things to look at . Hope it is a easy fix, nothing wrong with forgetting the simple things .

Good point Al, checking that the trans is in neutral is the first thing I would do. W/o it - K24 will never pick-up.
