I think the tranny defaults to neutral when you shut the engine down.
I would open the outside panel under the drivers window and check the big silver relays,i suspect one of them is bad.
One of them should be hot to the touch, real hot.

Shift to nutural is why I let the other coaches blow past me while I have the Jake on. In my 10 speed with the Jake on a hard dowhill, the transmission works to spinn powersteering and the compressor for brakes. I always wondered if jake on during an engine cut off would keep the allison in gear to maintain valve braking, steering and air compressor brake tank pressure.
On the post issue, back to the at switch, know that switch is always hot and is powered by a fuse that opens several a relays one of which opens the huge selonoid in the gen fan bay.

With the hwh issue not proving truth, i woud place a call to their tech line with the symptoms you describe.

Ahh,Gregs post brought up an old issue that Bob Lindamood had with an LXI,it involved the daytime running light module that shorted out,it shut the engine down and would not let it start and the jacks would not work.
It would not let the tranny shift either.

The DRL module turns the lights on when the engine is running, and the tranny in gear and maybe when the park brake is released.

Since all 3 of those systems are involved in this problem you may have a bad DRL.
John Wyatt may remember more about the Lindamood problem.

wow then it could be a diode some place muffed when someone shorted the jump. or a prior owner hack gone bad. My lxi prior owner had Kicker install a sound system that muffed power to the hwh .The slide worked intermittently. we worked it in and out at his shop during purchase inspection. I made the trip to CA with one no start issue until I turned on the stereo during my frantic search of the issue. Bus started with stereo powered. (I had shut it down to listen to the CB for some traffic issues)got me thinking so I kept the stereo powered My first mod was to reinstall the oem amp and remove the aftermarket stuff. same issue on my 90 f250 with an aftermarket alarm. I am happy to go oem.

with three and four battery banks and multitude of design power options any bridge in the works will cause issues. one of the bridges typical to cause issue is when a tow'de is given a 12v charge line then the car is started while hooked up. the charge line can act as the fuel source to turn the starter in a given situation and heat up the trailer wires. this is a good place to use or a pair of those simple self resetting 5 or 10 amp fuses. might be a good place for a diode or a old style rv battery separator

Default LXi electrical issues

Back at it after a long hiatus........I need to retire now!
Here’s what we have...

It’s not AT switch.
Bay doors closed.
Both large silver relays are pulling in.
Batteries are good.
Parking brake set.

Transmission selector LED only shows *. Mode light is on. (Had both selector and control module sent out to evaluate and came back no problem found. Sent to the Transmission Instruments engineer.)

These 3 due to system does not know it is in neutral,,,,,,,,,,,,
Engine will not start.
Slide outs will not work.
HWH levelers will not work.

Sounds like you have battery or ground issues. Check voltage at the front DC busses under the drivers window.

Feel free to call me 843-eight six 2-75 zero six

Default LXi neutral safety switch

Is there an actual switch on the transmission or is it controlled by the transmission control module?

Anyone know of someone knowledgeable who can come fix this issue onsite? Everyone local hasn’t a clue. I need this repaired and move on. Really frustrated!
