Default Introducing Snakebit - the toad

So I bought the Benz. Slow doesn't scare me. I'm an Olds diesel owner, they won no races either. Guy I bought it from used it as a Sunday driver and since his son became of age, they got him Jeep, making it one too many cars in the stable, so he sold (me) Molly. He told me today Molly is short for Molasses. Of course I'm naming it Snakebit - the toad. So I have Snakebit the coach and toad now. I think they make a handsome pair.

Working out when I can go grab it in Petoskey, about 4 hours north of me. I had to promise him I'd rinse the chassis when I got it home, it's never seen salted roads. And I will, I have a bay in my barn with a floor drain.

I like it for its intended purpose.

Nice car! Last decade that you could easily find a Benz with a stick. Had a couple in the 60’s and 70’s (including a four on the tree), but moved to other makes when they stopped importing “strippers” with a clutch.

Let us know how you end up doing the tow setup.

Nice looking car . I've owned two of the 240D's . One was automatic the other a four speed . I liked them both . Not speedy , but rode and drove well and got great milage.

Picked up the toad today in Petoskey. Lousy weather all the way there and back. Pure Michigan.

Rented a U-Haul trailer and dragged it behind a 2022 Expedition. Both did well. Seller was an honest guy making an honest deal, helped load the car, provided lots of records, spare parts, and other impedimenta.

Made for a long day picking up the trailer at 9 AM, 4 hours up and back. I need a drink!

Kris:

I should have corrected my comments from my previous post. I like it, regardless of its intended use!

Well I just ordered my personalized plate for the coach SNK B1T, and when I register the toad, it will be DSLTOAD. I'm going Winter-Wonderland on the coach and standard MI plates on the Benz (7 digits). I'll grab a "group" photo once it's completed (weather permitting). Onward to figuring out how to couple the two successfully and safely.

Thanks Dan. You remind me that a dolly is always an option here too! Since the car is a manual, it won't hurt it to tow with the rear wheels on the ground, provided it's in neutral. It won't make the glorious pair your coach and the Caddy do (they are head turners), but I'll be satisfied.
