I would remove the safety plus and recheck by taking a short drive. If it gets better then it is most likely that the safety plus bracket has slipped on the tie rod. Pretty easy to adjust. Simply park with the steering wheel straight and then reinstall Safety plus, moving the tie rod bracket as needed to get it it to line up.

1/2 inch is a bunch! I moved mine 1/16 to get it honed in

It’s a Safe T Plus. Erratic steer issue occurred suddenly after refueling. When Bill disengaged the Safe T Plus the device had been in the proper position. Height good, Tires good. Brakes good. We are back on I10 driving cautiously. 100 miles until home.

Thanks men! Bill will continue to trouble shoot this issue with you as it’s definitely not centered properly.

If he removed or adjusted the safe t steer and it made no difference I would be concerned 100 miles is a long way when something is not right. I'd want to know for sure what the problem is because something happen suddenly and it might get suddenly a lot worse

Hey everyone, thank you so much for your input to Tracy's posting. I found that I did not have the jeep key turned enough and the steering column locked during a sharp turn after fueling.
Rick Shawver guessed correctly and an alert motorist notified me. I never feel alone when traveling in our birds thanks to all of you on the forum.

Thanks again

Rookie mistake!! We've all done or been very close to doing that one. Glad it was a simple fix. Hope you figgered it out before messing with the u-bolts on the Saf-T-Plus!

I did it once. Got in too much of a hurry. Took the steering lock off of my Jeep and never had another issue. My current truck toad doesn't have steering lock so that is even better.

Default Glad you got it sorted out!

Knowing me, I'd make the same rookie mistake. I'm glad my Jeep has the steering lock removed!

Now, if you'll permit me a bit of fun -- what the heck did y'all have installed, anyway?!?

Glad to be home safely and I wanted to be clear that I disconnected the Safe T Plus just in the process of troubleshooting. We've put about 4,000 miles on the bird since having it installed at Pine Mountain a few months ago. It is by far the single best investment we've made. It makes driving so must easier and allowed my to drive further with less fatigue.
