Smile Bus drives STRAIGHT now

Atlas tired and truck shop figured out my bus driving excessive pull to the left problem. One of the front tire was down to 70lbs vs 100lbs on the other tire.

Reason was the after market valve steam tire gauge was incorrect. The was dirt in the tire valve steam and the gauge so the two front tires had different tire pressure.

I also had Atlas that the steering wheel off the colum and reinstalled a notch over to the left. Now bus with correct front tire pressure and steering wheel adjust drives VERY straight on a level road!

I drove it for 10 hours last week and let ,y hands off the steering wheel multiple times and she is straight as your going to get it!

Main problem was dirt in the valve steam and valve steam gauge for any newbie BB owners

Bringing this back to the surface to see if there are any places to recommend now, and, probably more-importantly, who to avoid. We're looking to get the panhard rods and trailing arms checked out and fixed, as necessary, as well as checking the front steering in hope of tightening things up a bit there. While we're at it, we'd go ahead and get fluid changes and new rear tires.

Stewart & Stevenson doesn't do much of that work, and recommended Beasley Tire. I called them, and they said they also didn't do suspension work, but recommended Felton's RV Service. Called them, and Mitch there said they can do all that work, and we'll probably take it there, unless someone either says to NOT do that, or can offer up any other place they trust. Thank you.

Was out in the shop to prep the bus to take to Felton's this morning. Mitch called to say he didn't think he had the capability to do the requested work, so we're back to searching again. Been calling around to different 'heavy truck repair' facilities, and coming up empty-handed. Sheesh!

I have no idea if any of these would be any help but here's a list of places that popped up when I searched for "Bus Repair near Pearland, TX".

This is one that's on the Service Center list that another WOG member has used in the past. Their East of Houston.

I read that, and my only hesitancy was the fact that there are two VERY tall bridges between us and them. I did call, and the service lady said they can do the work. Since we're enjoying 25-50 MPH winds here today, and it was getting late, we've opted to attempt the trip tomorrow morning. The plan is to drive into Houston, then back out I10 east to avoid said bridges. The wind is forecast to be a bit calmer (only 20-35).

Since we had time to do other things, we pulled the race car out to fit some new wheels/tires to it. The trailer is hitched to the bus, so we used it to move the car. The bus acted like it had dead batteries when we got back in it to put things up. Fired up the generator to run the battery chargers, and we eventually the bus started. Whew!

Volt meter on the dash showed a solid 14 V with the engine running, and also showed ~13.5V with the key on, engine off. All cables checked tight, including the big-a** ground strap from the starger mounting bolt to the frame. Hopefully, it doesn't act up tomorrow, or the first question I'll ask the shop is 'do you have batteries in stock?'.

Didn't make it to Atlas. The next day, we got everything loaded up to go, and all I could get out of it was a series of clicks on the starter solenoid.

Sooooo, that Thursday was spent chasing down, and installing, 4 new batteries in the bus. After that work was complete, the bus fired right up. Still missed our window. I'm tentatively planning to take it there on Thanksgiving week. If not, then we're off again the last half of December, so should have some time then.
