Talking SanTan Solar - Now in Savanah, GA

Good news for us on the East coast.
SanTan Solar now has a warehouse in Savanah, GA!!

If you don't know SanTan, they have some great prices on lightly used solar panels. I got my 250w panels for $50 each and they all test out fine. They also carry new panels, charge controllers, inverters, etc as you would expect.

The nice thing is that with this new location shipping cost just got cut in half for us on the East coast. Previously it would cost $400-600 to ship panels across the country. Now it is about $250 for a pallet on the East coast.

Lastly, on 6 November they have some crazy grand opening deals (in person only) like 250w panels for $30. Good times.

SanTan (in Gilbert, AZ) always reminded me of SunElec. Have purchased several times from SE because they used to have a drop ship/pickup facility in AZ. SE’s main location has always been in Miami Lakes, FL. Stock varies with each so check them both out…

Do they have an operation in AZ also, and are they having a sale here also?

Yes, their first store is in AZ. You might try calling Santan at their Gilbert location to ask them that question: https://santansolar.com/contact-us/

Dealers like SanTan and SunElec.com sell both brand new and takeoff “recycled” panels. Much like outlet stores, they often also sell brand new “blems” or seconds. What you are buying is always prominently listed. There are 3 levels of blems - A, B & C. When I did my coach panels several years ago I choose grade A “blem” panels because they were cheap, and mine were not going to be seen on my roof anyway since I flat mounted them. Although the grade A panels may have very minor cosmetic imperfections, they are functionally perfect. Grade B & C look progressively worse but again still test/function fine. Would I mount them on the roof of a sticks & bricks? Maybe and they’d almost certainly be fine for a ground mounted array IMO.

BTW - If considering solar for a sticks & bricks check out post #42 and beyond of this 5 YO thread: https://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.c...d+house&page=5. You might also find the how-it-was-built for the Bird House part starting at the beginning to be interesting.

A side note on the used panels. I was out back of their warehouse picking some things up and watched them process a shipment. They have a custom machine that washes the panels, then they dry them, then they go over to a testing stand and are labeled. Really smooth operation. I feel confident in the used panels.

I'll let you know how they test out soon. I picked up their 7500w off grid kit for $3500. It includes everything but batteries. I plan on powering my pool pump and my battery chargers with it and swiping a few panels for the bus, I mean the kit includes an entire pallet of 30 panels so... The 6000w solar charge controller/inverter that came with it is 48v so it would take some work to use it on a bus, but it could be done if you wanted.
