Default BMC a-h Plumbing

Take a look at the image, it is the AH Bay showing cold fresh water line in "blue" Hot fresh water line out "red". Can anyone say why the hot goes straight out of the AH, but the Cold water "blue" makes a half loop before going int the ah?

Would it be a bad idea for me to just splice in a straight pipe "GREEN" taking out the loop, less fittings = less leak potential in my simple mind.
