Their concept in marketing was to be a presales approach, build a few units send them to dealers for display and set back and wait for the build orders to come in. Well they were way overpriced and could not compete with Winnebago so they never made it off the ground. I heard the Luce family basically gave them to the 12 major bus & RV dealers at the time as a gift for their dedication to the Blue Bird line. I believe the brochure shows the BBI with GMC, Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, and the International chassis. I have seen a couple Ford units over the years and not knowing other chassis were used I may have passed by a few more giving them very little attention. Good luck and thank you for sharing yours with us. It's a keeper.
Thank you. I am new here so I am not sure who john is. My grandfather had told me that there were 12 made, and for some reason I think he paid around 16,000 dollars for it. he also toldme that they were made to compete with winnebago. I called BB about 10 years ago for something and they told me they thought that there were only 9 that had not crashed or burned. wether those numbers are correct or not beats me. Thanks for the info.

Mike I know of four units, yours & Mark's in California and there is a guy who has one for sale on Vintage Birds @ $8000 and I found one in south Georgia a few years back. Over the years I may have passed by a couple more not realizing they were BB Inns. Last year in Canada we saw an International schoolie which looked real close but it was a 70's model International.

Dieselbird01, I believe is his screen name. A really nice guy. Maybe he'll see this and get with you.

When I first heard about Mike's Blue Bird Inn we featured it on the old Wanderlodge forum on yahoo, it is one very nice looking 'Bird and I hope that Mike can make it to either the 2011 'Birds At The Beach or 2011 RATS rallies or both so we can have a closer look at some history.

Mike after I approved your membership I took the liberty of adding photos of your 'Bird as your Avatar, Signature and Profile photos.

Default Blue Bird Inn brochure

Hi Mike,

Just send a private message with your mailing address and I’ll send you an original Blue Bird Inn brochure. We have John Redden to thank for saving these brochures from ending up in a dumpster - he was kind enough to haul and store a few truck loads of stuff that he and I got at the auction.

I see from your signature that you’re in Miami - we’re in Titusville for the winter so if you get up this way stop and see us.

I’ve been meaning to submit a pdf copy of the brochure so this is as good a time as any.
