Default Old Bus Conversion

I been lazy - meant to post these pics of a Challenger conversion I saw in Mt Pleasant last summer. Don't know anything about it except it looks nice on the outside. Probably didn't get what he was asking for it.

1967 Mci 5a Challenger Bus Conversion Coach

Group : Rvs By Owner
1967 MCI 5A Challenger Coach

This coach was purchased new and it was converted by Custom Coach by the original owner. It was never a passenger bus. My father is the second owner, wich he purchased it in 1991. This coach has always been kept very clean and is stored in a garage year round.

Powered by an 8V71N (318) Detroit Diesel with a 4 speed manual transmission
King Cruise cruise control
Jake Brake
Shepherd power steering
12R22.5 Michelin XZE tires with aluminum wheels
Stainless steel form the windows down, and an aluminum top so there is no rust

Very roomy bedroom with a full size bed
Refrigerator, microwave and stove
Lots of closet and storage space

The freezer, inverter, generator, stainless steel holding tank, and diesel furnace are all in the bays wich leaves plenty of room for storage.

The interior is also very clean and has been updated, such as 2 air ride seats, an ottoman, 2 lounge chairs, and carpeting.

There is only 206,000 miles on it. Most buses get converted with over 1,000,000 miles on them.

This coach runs and drives great!

Call 989-621-1586 if interested

The phone number belongs to Tim Olson at Olson Tire in Mt. Pleasant MI.

Saw a similar conversion a few years back, Challenger like this however had a 892 and 13sp OD, had to be a real king of the road.

Nice looking classic!

Before I drank the heavenly BB coolaid...I spent about a year looking at similar buses. I saw some commercially built conversions and some home done that were really well done, tastefully decorated, and really looked nice.

I still love the big bay storage and how you can do the RV plumbing, HVAC, and genny in various bays and typically have one or two left empty. On the down side you often had unscreened or fixed windows, no awnings, and no leveling system, no roof access or storage. The final kicker for me was our decision to focus on a 33-35' FC bus...all these were 40 or 45'. I saw one 35' MCI...man it was sweet...but too much $$$ for me. Owner said cruising at 70-80 was a breeze!

In this market...treasure is out there, some are BB's some are other makes, but you have to look for it and know treasure from trash.
